The area is treeless and, for the majority of the year, covered in snow until summer.

The soil of the taiga region can freeze and has few nutrients  making it difficult for other plants to root themselves. This leaves the larch as one of the only deciduous trees able to survive in the taiga's freezing climate. Across the floor of the taiga are plants with shallow roots such as mushrooms, mosses, and lichens.

The taiga consists of many animals ranging from owls and eagles to  Bears and Lynxes.
