The term sappiness refers to music that invokes emotions that may be sad or happy and has a pure emotional feel and also may invoke a feeling of nostalgia. The song "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron is an example of this feeling of nostalgia. The slower tempo of the song and incorporation of choir sounds and nostalgic lyrics make sappiness heavy in this song. Lyrics are a factor in the musical sappiness but usually the music corresponds with the mood it is trying to convey. The song "I Wanna Be Yours" by The Arctic Monkeys has less sappy lyrics than "The Night We Met" but has just as sappy musical elements.
