She is known as a guardian or rather a werewolf of sorts. She is faced with the many secrets being kept from her and struggling with her choices in her life when it comes to being what she is. 
I chose this book because my sister was so enthusiastic about telling me about this series. She got me interested in many books and this was one of them. 
I think the most interesting part of the book that I have come across is the love triangle between the main character, the guy she is betrothed to, and the new guy named Shay. Its interesting because it gets into the inappropriate frustration that is in many young adults...a very physical one, and the punishment for Calla if she were to act upon them. She ends up having a forbidden romance with him, while she is supposed to be with Renier. During most of the book she sneaks off to uncover secrets about her people with Shay, make-out sessions included. Finding out secrets of what really happened during the battle, when she was a baby, against the searchers. Her and Shay end up going to a cave that's protected by a giant spider, the spider bites calla and she has to turn shay into a guardian because she needs pack blood to save her life. They take an object from the cave, called Haldis. Few days after is Calla's union ceremony, where she finds out that Shay is a sacrifice that she and Renier have to kill, but she ends up saving him and running off with him. Ultimately breaking Renier's heart. I would honestly like to live there if I was a guardian or keeper because humans steer clear of you and fear you and so many cool animals. If you like action and forbidden love between werewolf like characters and humans, it's great! But, I also recommend it because in some aspects it's relatable for some teenage girls, especially since the main character is a senior in high school.
