He was known for his influence in his writing, with some of the most compelling leading men in literature. <br><br>Hammett was a communist. He devoted most of his life to left-wing activism, and was apart of the Communist Party. People thought his ideals were imaginative and unrealistic. They thought he was a little crazy when it came to politics.</div>]]></description>

She was also in Broadway. <br><br>Hellman was a longtime supporter of leftist causes. Her friends had troubles with their hearings with House Un-American Activities Committee. She refused to give the committee names of who was in or association with The Communist Party. With this, she was blacklisted, although she wasn't held at court for it. <br> </div>]]></description>

She became known as one of top African-American performers of her time. <br><br>She was also known for refusing acting offers if they included stereotypical African-American roles. She sued several stores, restaurants and more that weren't segregated. She's become a very outspoken female for the leftist party, Progressive Citizens of America. Eventually she was blacklisted supposedly because she was a good friend to Paul Robeson, who was already on the blacklist. </div>]]></description>

He was also an impressive athlete. <br><br>He became a world activist and spoke out for racism, specifically towards African-Americans. Some of his popular films were, "A Streetcar Named Desire", "On the Waterfront", and "East of Eden". All of his films had something to do with his personal or social issues that concerned him. <br><br>The turning point of his career was when he spoke out to the Committee on Un-American Activities in 1952. This brought him forceful negatives looks and criticism from many liberals and colleagues. His testimony ended many of his work partners careers. His Selection for an Honorary Oscar led to anger within the filming community, and this led to his future blacklisting. </div>]]></description>

Some of his most popular plays are, "Death of a Salesman", "The Crucible", and "A View from a Bridge". <br><br>He received many compliments on his play, "The Crucible", because it reflected his refusal to cooperate with the Un-American Activities Committee. This play was also an allegory for McCarthyism. This probably why he got so criticized by the committee. Miller stood against HUAC and wouldn't tell them what he knew. These are many reasons why he was added to the blacklist.<br> </div>]]></description>

He was one of the first America-born conductors to lead world-class orchestras.   <br><br>Bernstain was associated with many communist groups. He was blacklisted at CBS network and that caused his performing career to drastically suffer. He also hosted a fund-raising party for Black Panther associates who had been charged with criminal activity. This also triggered the F.B.I. to look into him more carefully. </div>]]></description>

His most famous character was "The Tramp", a man with a bowler hat, a little mustache, and a cane.&nbsp;<br><br>Chaplain once said, " I want to see the return of decency and kindness. I'm just a human being who wants to see this country a real democracy." "Modern Times" was about the world's economic and political instability. He did not hold back his opinions when it came to injustices he saw taking place in the name of fighting Communism in the United States. He became to a target to right-wing activists. He went to Britian on vacation and the U.S. said he couldn't come back unless he could he didn't have any association with Communist parties, so he didn't come back. &nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
