The Socs and the Greasers, the Greasers are considered hoods or juveniles along with not being so wealthy while the Socs are the opposite. One night Johnny and Ponyboy gets jumped by Socs and Johnny kills one named Bob in self defense. They panic and seek help from Dally. (Ponyboy's Idol and member of the Greasers)
They then hide out in an abandoned church, once Dally comes to get them a week later they go out to eat and once they come back there is a school picnic there and the church catches on fire. Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy risk their lives to save the children inside the church and become heroes but it comes with a cost. Johnny is caught by a burning piece of wood and is hospitalized. Later on the Greaser gang visits Johnny in the hospital after a big fight between the Socs and Greasers and Johnny dies in the midst of them speaking. The Capulets and Montagues, The only son of Montague, Romeo is in love with a Capulet but that changes quickly when he meets the only daughter of Capulet, Juliet. They fall in love but have to keep it a secret due to their family's rivalry. They get married and eventually Romeo kills Juliet's cousin Tybalt because he killed Romeo's best friend and then Romeo was banished. Lord Capulet tells Juliet to marry Paris but Juliet doesn't want to. Juliet gets help from the Friar and gets a potion to make her appear as deceased. The day of their wedding she was found "dead" and eventually the news got to Romeo. Romeo goes to Juliet's tomb where she laid and thought she was dead due to the potion's effects.
