The main biomes which are seen to be retracting in north america and northern eurasia  is the tundra and alpine biomes, the expanding biomes being boreal and temperate forests, whereas in africa, the retracting biome seems to be tropical woodlands, due to the expansion of tropical grassland. In new zealand, shrubland is retracting, and forest is expanding.
