In my drawing, the scaffolding (which represents the constitution) is supporting the worker (which represents the citizens of the U.S.). The worker is working on the building (which represents our Constitutional Democracy). He is working to better the building by fine tuning it and contributing to its structure and visuals. As he works, he is supported by the scaffolding, similarly to how the citizens of the U.S. work to uphold our constitutional democracy and are supported by the Constitution.

In my drawing, the building labeled Society inc. represents the structure of our democratic community, our systems, and the way we live together. The people inside the building symbolize the citizens within our society. Surrounding the building is scaffolding, representing the Constitutional law. Just like scaffolding supports a building while it's being constructed or repaired, the Constitution holds up and shapes a democratic society, providing support and structure to keep everything standing. The workers on the scaffolding represent lawmakers, judges, and civic participants who maintain, repair, or improve the system. My image reflects the idea that a democratic society is always a work in progress, held up by the principles and protections of its Constitutional law, and shaped by the people who build it.

In my drawing, the big gear symbolizes constitutional laws and society and order are represented by smaller, connected gears. The constitution and its laws act as the biggest gear in a mechanism, controlling when the little gears turn. Without the main gear, the little gears cannot turn and complete their tasks. Similarly, without the constitution, the little gears of order and democracy would stop turning and could not exist.

Even if things go a little south you won’t be in the worse shape you could’ve been. I added two mane natural defense landscapes to symbolize how it keeps us safe and feeling free from so many things we can think of and so many things we can’t think of, we have to be greatful most of the time!

This metaphorical rulebook demonstrates an illustrated violation of various laws present in societies today. The image in the top left shows a man yelling at a woman. It can be assumed that these two are married and the woman is being abused by the man. The image on the top left depicts a person littering rather than throwing away all his trash into a bin. The bottom left image demostrates an agitated man being punched. The bottom right is showing a man consuming alcohol. All of these images are representitive of violations of words stated in various rulebooks in many different societies today. This acts as a metaphor for a rulebook because it demonstrates rules without words. The image exemplifies a rulebook as a living document and shows how rules function as by creating boundaries.

In my drawing I used internal clock gears to show how every part of our government is reliant on each other. Constitutional law in a democracy is the central gear of the clockwork system. It keeps all the others gears moving together. It protects rights, ensures balances, limited governmental power and upholds the justice system. Each part of the constitutional law is dependent on each other, if one fails it risks the whole system. Constitutional law provides the structure, and order that allows a democratic system to work effectively and fairly.

There are a few pieces missing from the flag, symbolizing how our society has not yet reached it’s full potential nor accomplished all that there is. Additionally, the mountains in the background symbolize the dangers that lie in the great unknown. We as a country are in preperation and continue building our society in order to be ready for the events that are ahead.

I chose to create an image of a person skydiving. The image displays a man jumping out of a helicopter up in the sky. The man is taking a risk by performing this act. Not only is the skydiving aspect of the man’s decisions risky, but so is the possibility that even if he lands safe, he could fall into a lava pit on the ground. But, there is a patch of grass that is off to the right of the lava pit, and if done correctly and the skydiving is completed according to plan, the man will fall through the air and land in the patch of grass. My tool of the constitution that I was given is guardrails. In this visual, the guardrails are depicted in the visual by the diving instructor falling with the man, and keeping him in line to land safely on the patch of grass. The instructor represents the trust that we need to have in the constitution to keep us from a failed skydiving experience, and from the lava pit that we might land in on the way down. Just like the constitution protects us from harm that goes on in the world we live in, but we have to follow its lead, and trust in what it says. Just like the man does with the diving instructor.

This drawing in a literal sense is a ice hockey referee who has the team bench and a penalty box in the background. Within the background there are seats like there would be if you were actually on an ice rink. On top of each seat is a word that is supposed to represent a player. These words each mean a different thing. For example on the team bench there are the words justice, protection, and equality. The word justice means that everyone is held up to the same standards and have equal rights when faced with a conviction. The word protection means everyone is safe and protected under the same laws, not just one group but rather the other. The word equality means everyone has the same treatment and opportunities as each other and no one is held to higher or lower expectations. On the other bench(penalty box) are words that if there were no constitutional laws we would see a lot more of today. These words include inequality, injustice, and unrepresented. The word inequality means while other can or could be treated good others will not based on certain biases. The word injustice means while certain groups might have lower penalties for doing things wrong others could have much higher penalties based on biases. Finally the word underrepresented means certain groups could have a harder time trying to accomplish or have certain things in their life based off of certain biases of the people. All of the words on the bench are law in the constitution that will help everyone so that no person is treated unequally, unfairly, or has no protection when needed.

At the top you can see the large storm clouds, with burst of lighting. This a labeled as the government's abuse of power, and with this the “rain” it produces is examples of where that abuse might occur. The umbrella is Red, White, and Blue to represent the American flag with the classic phrase We The People. Under the umbrella is the American people holding the handle, giving strength to the constitution. There is also a list of various rights that are clear from the storm, protected by the constitution surrounding the hands.

This structure shows the different parts of the constitution and how each branch supports one another.

The strong red base represents the preamble which is the introduction and mission of the Constitution. It outlines the goals of the Constitution and hope of the government.

The white middle represents the main articles like the legislative, executive, and judicial branch which all check the power of one another to make sure the country runs justly.

And finally the blue top represents all of the amendments. These amendments help to keep the Constitution a “living document” so it can constantly adjust as society changes. It also serves as the roof to protect individual rights and freedoms for all.

The car is representative of government power within a democratic society. As the car drives up the mountain it’s protected from falling off the sides by a guardrail just like how the constitution protects the government of abusing power. The police man needs to blow the traditional referee whistle in order to land criminals into the county jail. The red flag portrays expulsion from society or in metaphoric terminology, expulsion from a game. The back ground of the city skyline/road serves as the field. If you succeed in following the rules of the game, then you will successfully avoid the side line, or the county jail. The whistle is blown when a rule is violated with a felony or physical assault/murder being the red flag and a minor parking ticket reflecting a yellow flag.
