The layout of my magazine front cover will predominantly surround and focus on the dominant image. I will have the dominant image expand almost the entire length of the page however, it will be slightly aligned to the right as I plan to have my model facing the left. To the left of the dominant image I will feature the main sell line as there will be some exposed and negative space. To the right of the page, above the dominant image, and slightly over lapping, I will feature the additional sub sell lines. As well as this, my front cover will feature the masthead in the top left hand corner of the page, so it will stand out and be easily visible. Beneath the masthead, I plan to feature the essential information such as: the issue number and date. I am placing this here as it will not draw the audiences attention too much however, it will be easily readable for the audience. To the right of the masthead I am placing a slogan to fill the negative space and once again attract the audience. Finally the bar-code will be place in the stereotypical place- the bottom right hand corner.

On my front cover I have decided to use a bold cursive font for my masthead as I like the typically style of cursive however, I think that the masthead should stand out and the bold style will help provide this effect. Additionally, I plan to use more plain stereotypical fonts as these will work for aspects such as: essential information and additional detail. Lastly, I plan to use a large block lettered style fonts for my main sell line, slogan and other sell lines.

Colour Scheme

The colour scheme of my magazine front cover will be the same as all of my other products, including the ancillary ones. This is because I want to have a sense of synergy and convergence throughout my brand and its products. The main colours I will be using for background etc are white and blue however I am incorporating red and black into the colour scheme in order to provide contrast and to allow certain aspects of the page o stand out. These colours also represent the North East successfully which will give the magazine an extra element of regional familiarization.

The mise en scene of my front cover will be plain with the only colour aspect being a blue smoke like effect rising up the left hand side of the page.

For the front cover, in terms of language and register, I dont plan on using colloquial and informal language to try and attract or relate to the north east students I am targeting. This is because I think that this would look unprofessional and would therefore restrict the potential audience. Instead, to attract my target audeince I plan to create direct mode of address by using "you" which will create a connection between audince and magazine.

The image will be taken at eye level however will not provide direct mode of address to the audience as I plan for the model to be not be facing the camera directly. The image will be aligned to the right.
