What makes a good nurse? What skills are needed? Why do you think you will be a good nurse?

The nurses are fundamental in the hospital. I can also speak as a patient. The nurses are always present in the hospital ward. When I was recovered the nurse woke me up very early for a blood sample and they are delicate (not all unfortunately) and they always give me the “Good Morning”. I am also a nursing student so I can't judge them because the work of a nurse is challenging and difficult. The nurse does not have a life sometimes, she lives in the hospital in the morning, afternoon, and night for the nurses don’t exist during the holidays. They spend most of their time in the hospital. This is not very good for anybody. Unfortunately most nurses are stressed, grumpy, angry and rude, poor qualities for a nurse in contact with people and not healthy people but who are suffering. The nurse becomes a reference figure for the patients with the nurses the patients vent, get angry, cry, trust, entrust themselves. They become their family. The fundamental characteristics for a nurse must be empathy but not getting involved in the patient's history. They always show up in the room with a smile, be available and absolutely not make the patient feel like a burden. The patient must feel at home when he is suffering. The work of the nurse is to relieve his pain not only through nursing procedures but also to create an environment in which the patient feels safe. I don't know which nurse I will be but I will do everything to keep the patient in the best conditions both physically and psychologically. They will be my priority.

On May 5, the WHO declared the end of the state of emergency from the pandemic that hit the world in 2020. It is a respiratory infectious disease caused by the virus called SARS-CoV-2. The first cases were found at Wuhan in China. The spread of the disease was first reported by the Chinese authorities to the WHO on December 31, 2019. In Italy on March 9, 2020 the lockdown was declared. The covid has led to thousands of deaths between healthcare people and normal people. It has also resulted in a large number of psychological consequences on people, especially young people. They developed depression, anxiety. Precautionary measures have been used. Use FFp2 masks covering nose and mouth. Keep the distance of one meter between one person and another. It is forbidden to form assemblies. With the diffusion of vaccines, they prevent the development of serious illness and death. The WHO claims that despite the closure of the state of emergency, the infections continue, and the emergence of a new pandemic is not excluded in the future. you must not lower your defenses especially in crowded places. There is already talk of a new wave that could hit China in the coming months. The biggest recommendation is to continue using precautionary mechanisms to avoid the worst. Be careful please!

RECORDING FROM UNIT 4. LISTENING ONE

A nursing student finds herself in an emergency situation. A woman is lying on the ground and not breathing. She calls the 911 number and a paramedic assists her by telephone throughout the procedure. The paramedic guides the student step by step. First he asks her if the lady is conscious and if she is breathing. The student replies no. Then the paramedic assumes that he has a heart attack and explains to the girl how to proceed. It should begin with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and chest compressions. If the woman still has no heartbeat she must proceed with the defibrillator. The nurse applies the pads above and below the heart. She set the charge on the defibrillator at 200, making herself and everyone safe and discharged. If the woman does not recover after the first shock, give another one. Once there is a pulse give the patient lidocaine 100 mL over two minutes.
