A lot of the artists I looked up used positive/negative space and lines. I tried to create my piece similar to that kind of style. On one side I used positive/negative space and on the other I used lines to create the images. I also saw them bend, fold or make indents, so that inspired me to do the same.
B. Yes and no. I ran out of space. :( 
So I did 2/3 of my design.
C. It got really soggy and warped, so I tried to dry it a little by airing, but then it almost dried completely. But it's my first piece and came out better (so far,) than I thought it would.
D. I thought I got a lot of fine detail in without chipping away too much. A. the artists I looked at used a lot of value with the light and dark. They also used positive and negative space with different animals and I took inspiration from that.
B. I stuck to the general idea of my design but just freehanded everything with whatever came to my mind.
C. some challenges I had were getting it smooth and it dried super fast even though I wrapped it up.

A- I chose artists that used positive and negative space and also worked a lot with nature and landscapes so I tried to draw a little from that while making it my own piece.
B- I mostly stuck to my original design except I ran out of room so had to squeeze it in.
C- the most challenging part for me was getting the mug in the shape I wanted. also getting the thickness was also hard and I had to restart multiple times because it was either too thick or too thin. I also kept accidentally pushing my nails or making little indents in the vessel which I don't think look very good but are hard to get rid of.
D- I like how the sgraffito came out and a think the handle came out well.

B) I made different design because I realized that some of my symbols were going to be hard to make on the vessel.
C) Making sure I didn't make some parts of the vessel too thin was hard and also carving the images into it.

a) The artist I researched, Jami Porter Lara uses texture in a very interesting way.  They have none. The lack of definition between coils was noticeable and I tried to mimic this smoothness in my piece.  They also color their entire vessel, which emphasized the shape. I liked this idea and incorporated glaze on my entire piece. In terms of sgraffito, I appreciated the lack of design or negative/positive space in other's pieces. This is why I chose to leave some of the space untouched. 
b) I stuck to my sketch design completely. The spacing and positive/negative space worked well on my vessel. The only thing I changed was the shape of my vessel. At first I was going to make a uniform width, but then I decided to have the top widen. I think that this adds intrigue. 
c) One of my biggest challenges was smoothing out the coils. I wanted the surface to be indistinguishable, but it took a lot of time and slip to smooth out the connections. At first I also struggled with making a sturdy base. I started with clay that was too dry so it cracked a litte. I rewetted it and I fixed this issue. 
d) I think that my sgraffito design turned out really cool. I didn't have any difficulty etching, the clay was the perfect consistency. My bowl is obviously not perfect, but it’s art because of the bumps and ridges.
b ) I mostly stuck to my design, I realized as I was drawing it out that I couldn’t do all the symbols I wanted to since they didn’t go together well so I did have to cut a few out. 
c ) Putting on the under glaze was challenging because I needed the paint to dry but I didn’t want it to crumble from being too dry, it took a while for the paint to dry so I could start carving. 
d ) That it won't be too small once it’s fired and done.

I really wanted to emphasize the main design and make it the biggest focal point. 
b-I did stick to my design, I think the design worked really well for the shape of my vessel (shorter and longer). I did end up doing the design twice so I could have the wave on each side of the mug, opposed to just one and then filled up the background space with the other aspects of my design. 
c-some challenges i encountered were making sure the underglaze was opaque enough/there weren't blank spots because sometimes on certain spots it just wouldn't stick and rubbed off. I also struggled with smoothing out my mug and it still isn't completely smooth but I tried by best. 
d-I think my whole design in general was pretty successful and flowed together really well. 2) I didn't stick to my design at all which I kind of figured would happen. I ended up making it a lot more simple and focused on emphasizing a couple designs rather than doing a lot of designs.
3)I had trouble coming up with a design that i was happy with and it was also hard to get it to be smooth.
4) one successful part of my design was that i ended up getting it relatively smooth.

She also did mostly slab cups and cylinder vessels so thats what I did too. 
b- I stuck to my design but I realized I needed to add something else because there was still a lot of space left. I changed the bottom part to a textured/line design vs what I have at the top.
c- a challange was making sure the designs I repeated looked the same everytime. Also painting on the underglaze.

Because spacing didn’t work out, it adds a level of meaning to the piece, because the faces get smaller ad the pot rotates, it really shows the meaning of the emotions. c- The biggest struggle I had while doing this project was painted on the glaze. I just got worried that it wasn’t dry enough, or if the paint would smudge. That was really the only hard part for me. d- The successful parts of my design, was the mushrooms. B) I didnt incorporate all of the designs next to each other but instead I used them to make the cats face.. The peace sign is what's dividing the cats face, the heart is the little nose, and the music notes are the whiskers.
C) Some challenges I had were evening out the ears and trying to make sure the coils were mostly all the same size.

I took the clay and pounded it. My hands got very dirty. The smooth texture was very cool though. I then laid it down on the table
2. I started to roll it into a long string i guess you can call it or like a tube. Then I wrapped it in a circle and the texture was still very smooth so the i made it into one flat surface.
I curved one side up.Then I painted the whole piece black. I then carved my symbol of africa my airplane my kanji and my roman numeral on it. I then carved in eyes to make it look like a koi fish.
A. The artists inspired me to make my piece even and smooth and to come up with new cool ideas for my piece.
B.I was going to do a cup but I thought it would be cooler to make the designs on a fish plate.
C. The smoothing out was kinda hard and with the carving I was stressed of messing up.
D. I made the end piece look really cool and I was proud of it.

2) this stages was putting the glaze on. it went on very thin at first and started running down the sides. the second layer applied a little easier and after that i added a third layer. these three layers were enough to have a thick coat that i could carve into, and each coat took around 45 ish minutes to dry. the third stage was carving into the bowl. i had trouble at first figuring out how much pressure to use and i had tried out multiple different tools to carve. in the end i fork worked best for the bigger things and a toothpick worked better for the little things. i carved in a tree with waves on the inside and on the outer part of the bowl i put stars. 
1. i think seeing other people’s work helped guide me in the direction that i wanted to go. i wasn’t sure what i wanted to do at first but seeing other people’s styles helped me find what i like.
2. i stuck to what i planned for the most part but didn’t do as many smaller details 
3. i had a hard time trying to shape the bowl into what i wanted and in the end carving was harder than i thought it would be.
