My academic supervisor, Madam Azida came to my school for social visit and observation. She arrived at 7:50 a.m. and, as tradition has it, I first took her to pay a visit to the Pengetua. Thereafter, she watched my class, where I was teaching writing skills to Class 3K. This particular day proved to be one of the most successful of my whole time as a practicum teacher. As for the class, the students of 3K were quite responsive and engaging and most of them contributed in the class exercises. Madam Azida called my teaching strategies and the creative class activity that I had planned effective. All went well and I felt good to accomplish it.

I then joined my second teaching class with Class 3S. I introduced them to error correction practices similar to those in UASA Paper 1, Part B. Many students gladly raised their hands to answer assuming they would gain additional points for their PBD. It made the lesson interesting and profitable, for their eagerness gave an extra enhancement to the lesson.

Today I did not have any teaching classes and I was relieved for two of the same classes. The school placed me to supervise Class 2S in the 8th period and in the 10th period as well. During both sessions, I encouraged the students to work on the homework, or any other assignment that they might have. Of course, noise levels were generally low, but I made sure the class was orderly and focused, making for a prosentage and easily controlled day.

Today, I taught a teaching class of 3K for two sessions and a relief class of one session. At 8:10 a.m., I sat for a relief session in Class 4S4. I prompted the students to pay attention to finishing their home assignments; there was to be no noise and confusion throughout the class while working on assignments.

At 9:30 a.m., I went to Class 3K to hold a make-up lesson for a review before the Finals since the UASA is only three weeks from now. English comprehension skills were on centre stage because it is an important element of their Part A :written test. I guided them through a revision exercise on Part 2: Information Transfer , stressing structure of examination type of questions to enable them acquaint themselves with the type of questions. The session was highly beneficial because it was a real and engaging experience because the students paid a lot of attention during the session.

Today, I was expecting two teaching classes, however, because of the ”Introduction to the Election of Elective subjects for the academic year T4/2025″ for the whole form III I had to be shifted for the whole day. Instead I was given the task of writing three compassionate character classes.

For the first relief, I entered Class 1L for two periods, starting at 8:50 a.m. to 10:10 p.m. Of course, I did not interfere with them doing their homework, which basically means that the students solved the exercises under their own steam. Interestingly, this has made be often to relief for this class to get a feeling that it is slightly familiar each time.

The second relief was for Class 2O in which I sat for one period only. Then I proceeded to the third relief and this was with Class 2A. I took two periods there as with others I had given them freedom to do their homework. In other words, it was the day of little excitement but useful and monotonous activities.

Today, I taught one class, 3S. I directed the students to revision using their Modul workbook and emphasize the reading strategies since they are cornerstone of UASA English Paper 1. They were able to maximise their skills in the aforementioned component of the exam by doing comprehension and analysis regardless of the aforementioned probabilities.
