This week:

• Students continued with Unit 3 - Ready, Steady, Go!

• Students identified the long vowel sounds in words.

• Students will review verbs in the present continuous and the spelling rules for verbs + ing.

• Vocabulary: waving, making, writing, ripping, cutting, swimming, watching TV, skipping, eating, playing, riding, clapping, hitting a ball Language focus: Present continuous forms.

• Students practiced applying the spelling rules for adding -ing to verbs.

Next week:

• Students will have two lessons to review Unit 3 - Ready, Steady, Go!

• Students will complete the Unit 3 test. Students will start with Unit 4 - The big sky

• Students will investigate shadows and how they change throughout the day. Vocabulary: sky, low, high, shadow, long, short, in the morning, in the afternoon, at midday

• Language focus: prepositions of time: at, in

• Students will start identifying contractions and using them when writing. Lesson 4.1 and 4.2

2. Maths

This week

• This week in Maths, we have been completing our topic of fractions of a shape.

• Students have been able to recognise half and quarters.

• Additionally, we have been revising for our Unit 2 assessment - Geometry. Unit 2 test on Monday 28th October.

• Revision materials and practice test on LMS.

Next week

• Next week, students will be learning about statistics.

• They will be using tally charts, creating their own charts, collecting data and learning about Carroll Diagrams.

3. Science

This week

• This week, students have learnt about how a force can change the direction of an object.

• Key words: turn, direction, force, push, pull, change.

Next week

• Next week, students will complete a scientific investigation.

• They will be using the taught skills to twist, bend, stretch, squash different materials, identifying which forces are used.

• They will also identify which forces change the shape, direction and speed of an object.

• Students continued with Challenge 2 - Family Matters.

• Students discussed similarities and differences between families.

Next week
