If I were to get into the game dev industry I would need to get certified in the use of one or multiple game engines. Engines are foundational tools when it comes to game design.

Pursue a PhD for a career in Quantum Computing

I am personally very interested in the field of Quantum Computing. Getting into the field would require a highly advanced education, but it would be well worth it if it brought about great change.

Pursue Independent Game Development

Independent game dev would give me a lot of freedom, but would not constitute a career path on its own. While it will grow my skills it would have do be done alongside another career path like Quantum Computing.

This industry is very hard to get into at the moment, especially due to AI, but it would be what I am most passionate about doing. This would give me a chance to connect with the industry and talk about what its like, so I can learn all I can.

Two things I can do in the next 2 years is to continue attending coding club to learn more about game design as well as attending game jams, and attending career fairs to find potential internships to apply for.

I have spent a long time DMing for Dungeons and Dragons. While it is mainly a hobby at first, it involves a lot of storytelling, world building, and game balancing. These are valuable skills when it comes to game dev, and I hope to keep honing them for this purpose.

I would want to continue doing game dev, even while doing research as a hobby. While this would be reliant on another career there is a chance that it becomes successful enough that I can do it on its own.
