         <description><![CDATA[<p>The names remembered and recorded for places in the original Nooksack language, Lhéchalosem, tie the modern Nooksack Indian people to their traditional lands.&nbsp; Names are known for places throughout the Nooksack territory where the language was spoken, as well as in surrounding areas which were not exclusively Nooksack.&nbsp; All of these place names are covered in detail in&nbsp;the book<a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://uwapress.uw.edu/book/9780774820462/nooksack-place-names/"><strong> Nooksack Place Names: Geography, Culture and Language</strong></a>&nbsp;by Allan Richardson and Brent Galloway (UBC Press, 2011).&nbsp;Map accessed at the Nooksack Tribe's Culture Program website.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>June 2025 - WA state legislative session saw the <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://washingtonstatestandard.com/2025/07/21/washingtons-outdoor-school-programs-reel-from-state-funding-cuts/">elimination of nearly 85% of outdoor learning funding</a>, eliminating the Recreation and Conservation Office’s Outdoor Learning grants completely and reducing the No Child Left Inside grants from $4.5M to $1.26M. Additionally, $250,000 of state allocated funds, advocated by Representative Alicia Rule, for the Connections and Snow to Sea pathway programs were also eliminated.</p>]]></description>
