The meaning of correlation is one thing relates to another and causation is that one thing causes another. Although because one thing is related to another does not mean that one causes another.

I picked number 4 out of this article, it states that vending machines in schools cause obesity. Stating that vending machines in schools causes obesity is correlation with confusion because it is stated that vending machines is the correlation to obesity but it is not a direct cause of obesity.

This can be really dangerous because you neglect the treatment you need and it can cause for symptoms to worsen. In this article examples of home remedies used that are dangerous are explained. For example putting butter a burn actually causes the burn to become worse.

Appeal to authority is when you are lead to believe something by someone in power even though it may not be true. You tend to believe them because they are in authority and you think they would be telling the truth.

This appeal to authority is stating that doctors smoke a certain type of cigarette and this would let you believe that you should to. It does not say what types of risk comes with smoking but that the doctors choose these.

A red herring is when there is a piece of information that is intended to be misleading. It is use to have you believe what they want and distract you from the other points. 

Connection:
Many red herring examples are when someone is trying to distract someone else by changing the topic so that they can get out of doing something. The example in this article is a mother trying to get her child to go to bed but the child keeps asking questions trying to avoid going to sleep.
