<title>a systematic literature review (Shaw et al, 2012) compared outcomes in both treated and untreated individuals. Outcomes were measured in 9 major categories: academic, antisocial behaviour, driving, non-medicinal drug use/addictive behaviour, obesity, occupation, services use, self-esteem, and social function outcomes. The review showed that treated individuals had better long-term outcomes in all 9 categories.</title>

<title>Undetected persons with ADHD are harder to diagnose in the long run as their ADHD may be masked by comorbid conditions. Thus, they should enter the ADHD assessment pathway as soon as possible. This shows that there is a pressing need for systems that facilitate early diagnosis and treatment. </title>

<title>[Parents] A systematic literature review (Dahl et al, 2020) has found that psychoeducation of parents and teachers led to the improvement of ADHD symptoms and behavioural problems in children. The researchers state that it could “potentially as a result of parents’ greater knowledge about how ADHD influences their child’s behaviour”.</title>

<title>Balasz et al (2017) conducted a systematic review of the correlation between comorbid mental health conditions and suicidality in ADHD. It was found that in the majority of the reviewed studies (7/9), comorbid disorders significantly explained the correlation between ADHD and suicidality. Three of these studies focused on adults, while one study included multiple age groups and the rest focused on children and adolescents.</title>

<title>For adults with ADHD, finding treatment to be affordable and accessible was correlated with better coping. interventions for ADHD are not affordable. It is precisely affordability and accessibility of care services for ADHD that was emphasised in a paper published by the World Health Organisation on mental health and equity. It pointed out that a vicious pattern of intergenerational inequality can ensue if interventions for ADHD are not affordable. If those who are less financially resourced are unable to afford interventions for ADHD, then it will likely cause them to do worse in school or at work, which will lower their possible income levels. Furthermore, as ADHD runs in the family, not only are their children likely to inherit ADHD, but also the poor economic situation which deprived them of treatment of ADHD in the first place. The paper especially emphasised that interventions for ADHD are effective and feasible. To break this vicious cycle, one of its recommendations was thus health sector reforms to improve access to and affordability of care, and provision of a range of evidence based psychosocial and drug treatments. </title>
