The American Dream was coined by James Truslow Adams and what it meant to him was that it was dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement. Many wanna get into this country just to achieve what they believe is the best lifestyle for them. It is something they have wished to have since they were younger or older. For a lot of people it can be something different like wealth or having a family. It is something people want to achieve to be able to live happy lives. Since a child my father planned to have a family someday, a good job and to live well. His American Dream is to someday own a business. Growing up both of my fathers parents were sadly dead and his parental figures for him were his grandparents. Despite this my father believes his hopes and dreams came true because he lives in this country, his family lives well, he has a good job, his kids can go to college, he gets paid well and he has a child who has graduated from college already. He believes the American Dream is realistic to achieve and he says that's why so many people desire to come here. He thinks that if someone falls shorts to their American Dream it doesn't matter because they live better here compared to their own country. My father believes that the United States is still the land of opportunity because this country offers many opportunities to accomplish your dreams that in other countries would be impossible. His parents never were able to give him advice, but his grandpa told him to be a hard worker and to be responsible. Like going to school to get better education, freedom, and dreams. In other countries it’s not provided if you don’t have the money for it or if your a woman you won’t get the opportunity to do stuff around. According to the song it says, “One kid helps pay the rent, One could end up goin to prison”. It's saying that some people's American Dream could be interrupted by different circumstances such as going to prison. Another part of the song says, “Looking at the promise of the promised land, one kid dreams of fame and fortune”. America is being revered as the promised land where a kid can dream of fame and fortune and it could possibly become reality, but some fail to make it a reality. This song defends my American Dream thesis because the whole song talks about how America is the land of opportunity and it gives you the chance to accomplish your dreams. However, only if you are willing to work hard for it and you put time and dedication into it.

We all have an equal opportunity in this country but despite this sometimes the dream that people have planned don't end up working out. The article also states, "Although it’s not easy to achieve the American dream, with passion, hard work and dedication, it is very possible to achieve." Throughout the movie you see that it doesn't exactly go as he planned. He instead ends up getting super powers and his life goes down hill once his uncle dies and now its just up to him and his aunt to pay the bills. Its a struggle and Peter at the end of the movie gets the girl, but can't keep her because now that he is a super hero he has other priorities and he can't allow her to get in danger. So at the end he ends up sacrificing friendships and a relationship with the girl and he has to because he has no choice so he doesn't get the dream he was hoping for.
