*Story 2: Love and Loss (5‘30‘‘)

[상황] My second story is about love and loss. I was lucky — I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents’ garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees.

[위기] We had just released our finest creation — the Macintosh — a year earlier, and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating. I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down — that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me — I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

[극복]I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life. During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the world’s first computer animated feature film(장편 영화), Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, I returned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together. I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it.

[교훈]Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

We live more comfortably thanks to technological advancements. But is this convenience always a good thing?

First, one negative effect is the invasion of privacy. As technology advances, so do surveillance technologies. Due to the spread of CCTV and social media, our private lives are increasingly exposed, making privacy violations a serious issue. According to one news report, a drone secretly filmed the inside of an apartment, clearly showing how technology can negatively impact privacy.

Second, there is the problem of elderly isolation. While the development of technology has brought convenient devices like kiosks and smartphones, many elderly people struggle to use them, leading to their exclusion. For example, one elderly person visited a fast food restaurant but couldn’t use the kiosk, so they had to leave without ordering. This shows how technology can cause social exclusion for the elderly.

As we can see, while technological advancement brings comfort, it also creates new problems. Now, we must strive for a kind of development that does not harm anyone.

Have you seen this vehicle before?

Most people haven’t.

That’s right. But this brand started in a surprising way with a man who made tractors.

We often give up when we face rejection and limits. But some people turn those moments into the start of a challenge. Let’s see how that spirit of challenge created a new path.

Lamborghini was a businessman who made tractors. He found many problems with Ferrari cars and tried to suggest fixes, but he was ignored with the words, “What would a tractor maker know about cars?” That dismissal became his challenge, and he decided to build sports cars himself.

After Lamborghini succeeded with sports cars, Horacio Pagani, who worked there, had conflicts over using carbon fiber. He took on the challenge and started his own brand, Pagani.

This shows us that the spirit of challenge can turn the impossible into possible and open new roads.

You all know how babies are born, right?
But then, why are so many young people today choosing not to have children?
To understand this, I would like to talk about possible solutions to the issue of declining birth rates. The first solution might sound extreme at first: Restricting the use of contraceptives altogether. However, a more balanced version of this idea could be implemented. For example, contraceptives could still be available for teenagers for safety and education purposes, but sold at ten times the normal price for adults. This would discourage excessive use and promote childbirth. Additionally, contraceptives could only be sold to those who have already had at least one child, gradually increasing the birth rate."

"The second solution involves allowing single women to have children through sperm donation. This would enable women to choose desirable genetic traits and raise children independently, which could contribute to increasing the birth rate in modern societies where marriage is becoming less common.

That's all. Thank you for listening.

Have you ever thought about how serious the issue of low birth rates is?

Today, I want to talk about a problem that many countries, including South Korea, are facing right now: low birth rates. This issue may not seem urgent to some of us, but it can have huge impacts on our future.

Low birth rates mean fewer babies are being born every year. At first, this might not sound like a big problem. But if fewer children are born, there will be fewer young people in the future. This leads to an aging population, which means more old people and fewer workers to support them.

As the working population gets smaller, the economy can slow down. There will be fewer people to work, pay taxes, and take care of the elderly. This puts pressure on the healthcare system, pensions, and the younger generation.

In South Korea, the birth rate is one of the lowest in the world. This is already causing problems in schools, jobs, and the economy. If this continues, the future could be even more difficult for us and the next generation.

So, what can we do? Governments need to provide better support for families, such as affordable childcare, housing, and work-life balance. But we also need to change our mindset and create a society where people feel confident about having children.

In conclusion, low birth rates are not just a number—they are a serious issue that affects all of us. It’s time to think about solutions and take action for our future.

Thank you for listening.

Good morning, everyone.

Today, I want to talk about something that might sound like a luxury during exam season: exercise. When we’re buried under textbooks, notes, and endless practice questions, going for a jog or hitting the gym might seem like the last thing we have time for. But actually, it's something we can't afford to skip.

First, let’s talk about our brains. Exercise isn’t just good for your body — it boosts your mind too. Physical activity increases blood flow to the brain, which helps you think more clearly and remember more effectively. Just 20 to 30 minutes of light exercise, like walking or stretching, can improve concentration, reduce mental fatigue, and help you retain what you've studied.

Second, exams are stressful. We all know that. But did you know that exercise is one of the most powerful natural stress relievers? It helps reduce cortisol, the stress hormone, and increases endorphins, the chemicals in your brain that make you feel happier and more relaxed. Even a short workout can lift your mood and calm your nerves, which is essential during high-pressure times like exams.

Third, exercise helps you sleep better. And during exams, getting good sleep is just as important as studying. When you’re well-rested, you're more alert, your memory works better, and you’re less likely to make careless mistakes.

Finally, let’s be honest — we all need a break sometimes. Studying non-stop doesn’t make you more productive. Taking regular breaks for physical activity can actually improve your focus when you return to your work. It gives your brain time to reset and absorb what you've learned.

So next time you feel guilty about taking time away from your studies to move your body, remember this: exercise isn’t a distraction — it’s an essential part of preparing for success.

Thank you.

There is a saying that 'one death is a tragedy, but millions of deaths are statistics'.

This statement especially applies to situations like war, and it would be even more accurate when predicting the future nature of warfare.

In the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, the role of drones and other unmanned vehicles is becoming increasingly important.

The low-cost mass production of drones allows them to perform a wide range of missions in modern military operations, including reconnaissance, kamikaze attacks, bombing, search, and surveillance, making their importance even more apparent.

Modern soldiers, armed with rifles and similar weapons, cannot shoot down drones that fly in quickly from a distance to carry out kamikaze attacks or drop bombs and then fly away.

Also, drones come in various sizes, and some small and medium-sized drones cannot be detected by radar or missile tracking systems.

To increase the chances of shooting down drones without being detected, the types of weapons issued to individual soldiers are changing from rifles to shotguns, and external buildings are being replaced with underground facilities or trenches.

The North Korean military must have also realized the power of drones in this war.

n this way, drones are changing the nature of warfare and opening a new chapter.

Our country must also invest in the drone industry, train related personnel, and develop drones capable of performing military missions to strengthen the capabilities of the South Korean military.

I will make the case that the death penalty can cause stagflation.

First, according to Beccaria, a French revolutionary philosopher, his country's public executions cause fear in citizens. He says that fear caused by the death penalty eventually deteriorates national productivity, lowering supply power.

Second, North Korea currently legalizes the death penalty. According to UN RELORT, Park Nam-ki's public execution caused fear in society, which led to a 12 percent increase in food prices due to a decline in productivity.

In addition, according to a paper by social psychologist R.W. ROGELS, there is a result of a psychological paper that, if it instills fear in citizens, the passion of productive power is prioritized in their brains, making them ineligible for productive activities.

Finally, this figure is a graph showing the relationship between real national income and inflation, which suggests real national income on the X-axis and prices on the Y-axis. As shown in the figure, when productivity falls, prices increase and GDP decreases, causing stagflation.

From this point of view, I think that life imprisonment should be defined as the highest punishment of the state rather than the death penalty.

deepfakes what causes them, why they are a serious problem, and what we can do to solve them.

First, what are deepfakes?
Deepfakes are fake videos, images, or audio recordings that are created using artificial intelligence. They can make it look like someone is saying or doing something that they never actually did. As technology improves, deepfakes are becoming more realistic and harder to detect.

Now, let’s look at the causes of deepfakes.
The first cause is the rapid development of AI technology, especially deep learning and GANs — Generative Adversarial Networks. These tools make it easier than ever to create convincing fake content.
The second cause is the huge amount of personal data available online. Anyone can find photos, videos, and voice recordings of people on the internet, and this data can be used to train AI models.
The third cause is motivation. Some people use deepfakes for fun or entertainment, but others use them for harmful purposes like spreading fake news, defaming others, or committing fraud.

These deepfakes can lead to serious problems.
They can spread false information and damage a person’s reputation. They can also be used to influence public opinion, especially during elections. In addition, cybercriminals can use them to steal personal identities or scam people.

So, what can we do to solve this problem?
First, we can develop technology to detect deepfakes. AI tools and algorithms are being created to identify fake videos and audio.
Second, governments should create laws to punish the harmful use of deepfakes. Legal action is important to stop criminals from misusing this technology.
Third, we need to raise public awareness.

Have you ever experienced any major inconvenience because of illegal immigrants?

Today, I would like to talk about the negative impacts that illegal immigrants have on Korean society. There are three main issues I will address: public safety, the labor market, and cultural conflict.

First is the issue of public safety.
Since illegal immigrants are not officially registered with the government, it is difficult to verify their identities. As a result, they may use illegal vehicles or forged identification. For example, last year in Jeju Island, a Chinese illegal immigrant stole approximately 100 million won worth of goods from a jewelry store and fled to China. The suspect has not yet been caught. This case illustrates how difficult it can be to track and arrest illegal immigrants, which leads to growing public concern.

Second is the labor market issue.
Foreign workers, especially those who are undocumented, are often paid lower wages than Korean workers, which can drive down overall wage levels. This creates unfair competition and may negatively affect job opportunities for local workers.

Third is the issue of cultural conflict.
Illegal immigrants and Korean citizens have grown up in different cultural environments, which can lead to conflicts in language, values, and lifestyle. For instance, there have been cases where illegal immigrants played loud music and held parties late at night in residential areas, leading to conflicts with local residents.

Considering these various cases, it is clear that the issue of illegal immigration is a serious problem that must be addressed.

Why does gender conflict occur?
There are various reasons why gender conflict arises. One example is extreme gender ideologies. For instance, certain forms of radical feminism or male chauvinism may express themselves in ways that infringe upon the rights of the opposite gender, which can deepen mistrust and conflict between men and women.

Today, gender conflict has become a serious social issue, frequently appearing in both online and offline spaces. So, what can we do to reduce this conflict?

One possible solution is to recognize each other as equal and deserving of respect. When both men and women strive to understand each other's perspectives, acknowledge differences, and pursue equality, gender conflict can gradually be alleviated. Establishing a culture of healthy communication and mutual respect is essential.

Are you familiar with the High School Credit System in Korea? If so, what’s your opinion about it?

Personally, I have quite a negative view of the system. Today, I’d like to talk about some of the drawbacks of this policy.

First, the system has created a lot of uncertainty for students when it comes to college admissions. Rather than offering more flexibility in subject choices, it has often limited students’ options.

One of the goals of the system was to increase flexibility by offering a variety of subjects. However, because most students tend to choose popular subjects, less common or “non-mainstream” subjects are often canceled due to low enrollment. As a result, students can’t take courses that are important for their future careers.

For example, at Gwangju High School, the course “History of Science” had to be canceled because not enough students signed up for it.

Another issue is that students are expected to choose their career path as early as their first year of high school. But high school students change a lot during this time, so this kind of pressure has led to a great deal of dissatisfaction. I believe the system should allow more flexibility for students to change their subjects as their interests and goals evolve.

There’s also concern about the change from a 9-level grading system to a 5-level one. This shift may make it harder to differentiate students based on their grades. For example, a GPA of 2.0 in the 9-level system becomes a 1.0 in the 5-level system, which may make it easier for many students to qualify for top universities.

This could lead universities to introduce additional entrance exams, such as school-specific tests, to better distinguish students.

Of course, there are more side effects, but today I focused on the most important ones.

I hope you also take interest in this issue and think critically about it.

That’s the end of my presentation. Thank you for listening.

How do you manage stress?

Maybe you would listen to music or eat spicy food.

Here are some tips to help you manage stress.

First, you need to sort things that you can't change and can change.

Then, you just need to acknowledge and accept the former.

For example, rather than dwelling on the past, let it go and focus on the present and future.

On the other hand, the latter can be changed through effort. For example, if procrastination is a problem, you can work to overcome this habit.

According to experts, people who have hobbies are physically and mentally healthier than those who do not, and have a higher level of satisfaction with life.

Exercise is also one of the best ways to relieve stress. Not only does it reduce stress by producing serotonin, which alleviates emotions and lowers the likelihood of depression, but it also improves physical health. Finally, stopping watching Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts can reduce stress. These videos are entertaining, but according to research, the longer we are exposed to them, the greater the risk of anxiety and mental health deterioration, and the higher the stress levels.

Stress is an unavoidable part of life, but you can make an effort to relieve it. How about trying a small practice of relieving stress by taking a short walk starting today?

Medical environments and services are all over the country or around the world and are the services we use a lot.

But medical environment affects both the patient and the environment.

First, one of the effects on the patient is when the patient is infected in the hospital. It can be infected by contaminated devices, often in hospital, in other patients. The way to solve this problem is for medical personnel to wear protective equipment when treating patients, disinfect hospital equipment cleanly, and reuse disposable equipment. And from the patient’s point of view, they should wash your hands frequently and thoroughly manage your personal items.

Second, the medical environment affects other environments as well as patients, and the problem is the increase in medical waste, which if it is mismanaged, it can cause environmental pollution and risks radiation exposure. The solution to this is to accurately classify and treat infectious and hazardous recyclable waste.

Have you ever noticed how music changes the way we feel or matches how we feel already? Today I want to briefly talk about how we can recommend music based on different emotions. Music and emotions are closely connected. When someone is sad, they might want calm and emotional music that helps them feel understood. When they’re happy, upbeat music can make the feeling even stronger. Angry? Fast, intense rhythms might help release stress. Feeling lonely? A soft warm song can bring comfort. And when someone feels love or excitement, something light and sweet often fits the mood. By understanding the listener’s emotion, we can recommend music that truly connects with them. In the end, music is not just entertainment it’s emotional support. So next time you share a song, think about how the person feels. The right music at the right moment can make a big difference. Thank you!

What if I told you that the video you're watching right now is completely fake? That’s not a real person – it’s a digital illusion. And it could be anyone even you. Deepfake technology uses artificial intelligence to create fake videos or images. It can make people appear to say or do things they never actually did. While this technology can be fun or creative, it also has a dark side. Deepfakes have been used to spread misinformation and commit crimes. But deepfakes are not just used for malicious purposes. They are also used in movies, advertising, and even art to create something new and innovative. So, while this technology has great potential, it also requires responsibility and caution. So the next time you see a video online, ask yourself: Is this real or just another deepfake? In a world where seeing is no longer believing, how can we protect the truth? As technology advances, it’s up to us to stay informed and aware of its impact on society. The future is in our hands, and how we choose to use this technology will shape the world we live in.

Opening
Have you ever exercised to improve your appearance or gone on a diet to lose weight?
And did you know that the most important factor in any diet or workout plan isn’t just exercise — it’s meal management?

시각자료:https://pin.it/1Q5PzzbaT, https://pin.it/7iltakG9i

Today, I want to share with you a new and effective way to manage your meals that has been gaining attention recently.
It’s called Time-Restricted Eating.

시각자료:대한비만학회

Body

Topic Sentence 1
Time-Restricted Eating, or TRE, is a type of intermittent fasting.
It means limiting your food intake to a specific period of time each day and fasting during the remaining hours.
According to several studies, TRE shows similar weight-loss effects compared to low-calorie diets that restrict 500 to 1,000 calories per day.
However, the advantage of TRE is that it allows people to choose eating periods that fit their lifestyle and health condition.
Generally, there are two main types:
one starts early in the morning and ends in the early afternoon — this is called early TRE;
the other starts around noon and ends in the evening, around 8 p.m.
The key is to keep your chosen eating cycle consistent for a certain period of time.
By maintaining a steady pattern, your body can adjust its metabolism effectively.
In my own case, I have been practicing early TRE for several months, finishing my last meal in the late afternoon — and I’ve felt real improvements in my energy and focus.

시각자료:https://pin.it/JFfs2lPA4

Topic Sentence 2
Scientific studies, including randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses, have shown that TRE improves metabolic health independently of calorie reduction.
This means even without eating fewer calories, people can see positive changes in insulin sensitivity, blood sugar control, and fat metabolism.
By aligning food intake with our body’s natural rhythm, TRE helps our hormones function more efficiently throughout the day.
However, the results may vary depending on eating duration, timing, and total energy intake.

That’s why personalizing the schedule is important — to maximize both health and weight-loss benefits.

시각자료:https://pin.it/JFfs2lPA4

Topic Sentence 3
To plan a healthy Time-Restricted Eating schedule, experts recommend keeping your eating window within 8 hours and, if possible, following an early-time pattern.
Still, there’s no strict rule.
The most important thing is to set realistic goals and choose an eating routine that fits your own daily life.
Consistency matters more than perfection.

시각자료:https://pin.it/Owssy4qBu

Conclusion
There are many successful cases of weight control through Time-Restricted Eating, which are well-documented in research published by the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity.
If you’re interested, I highly recommend reading those studies.
Thank you for listening — this concludes my presentation.

시각자료:https://pin.it/7oylYIvqY, 대한비만학회, https://pin.it/2I0Glgbfm

Opening:
Have you ever used ChatGPT to help you with a school assignment?
Many of us use artificial intelligence every day — to study, to write, or just to make life easier.
But while AI seems smart and helpful, it also hides a big problem that most of us never think about: its impact on the environment.

Thesis statement:
Let’s explore how the rise of artificial intelligence affects our environment, from the problems it causes to the solution it may offer.

Body

Topic sentence 1:
First, AI uses a lot of energy, which leads to carbon emissions and harms the environment.

Training a large AI model like ChatGPT requires thousands of powerful computers running nonstop for weeks.

As you can imagine, these computers consume massive amounts of electricity — and most of that electricity still comes from fossil fuels.

In fact, one study found that training a single large AI model can emit as much carbon as five cars over their entire lifetimes.

As you can see in this chart, AI’s energy demand is growing rapidly every year.

시각자료 1:https://bit.ly/3WFfr3r

Topic sentence 2:
However, AI isn’t all bad. It can also help optimize resources by improving efficiency and reducing waste.

For example, in factories, AI systems can analyze data to reduce unnecessary energy use and detect problems before they cause waste.

As you can see here, smart manufacturing systems powered by AI save both energy and materials.

In agriculture, AI-powered drones and sensors can monitor soil and crops, using just the right amount of water and fertilizer.

So, small improvements like these can lead to big environmental benefits.

시각자료 2:https://www.mdpi.com/3035932

Topic sentence 3:
Also, AI can improve energy efficiency in power grids, buildings, and renewable energy systems.

As you can see in this diagram, AI connects renewable energy sources like solar and wind power to our daily electricity use.

It can predict how much energy people will use and adjust the power supply to prevent waste.

AI can even control lighting, heating, and cooling in buildings automatically to save electricity.

That’s why AI plays an important role in creating a smarter and more efficient energy system.

시각자료 3:http://bit.ly/3Lgv4vU

Here, you can see how AI connects renewable energy sources to our daily power use, creating a smarter and more efficient energy system.

Conclusion:
So, as we’ve seen, AI’s environmental impact depends on how we use it.
If we continue to develop and apply AI responsibly, it can become a key tool for creating a sustainable future.
Next time you use ChatGPT or another AI tool, remember — behind every smart answer, there’s energy being used.
Let’s make sure that energy helps, not harms, our planet.

Thank you.

# 구조

Opening: These days, many students feel a lot of stress from studying, exams, and relationships at school. Too much stress can make students tired, anxious, and less focused in class. To solve this problem, schools try to provide various programs to help students relax. Among them, school physical activities play an important role in reducing students’ stress and improving their emotional well-being.

Exercise during school, such as physical education classes or sports clubs, allows students to move their bodies, refresh their minds, and feel more positive. According to a study by the Korean Institute of Sport Science (2022), students who actively participate in school physical activities report lower stress levels and higher satisfaction with school life.

Thesis statement: Therefore, school physical activities are an effective way to reduce student stress and improve mental and emotional health.

Body: School physical activities help students reduce stress by improving their physical condition and releasing tension. When students exercise during PE class, their bodies release endorphins, which are chemicals that make them feel relaxed and happy. As a result, students who participate in regular school sports often experience lower stress levels and better mood.

Topic sentence 1: Regular physical activity has been shown to reduce stress, depression, and anxiety among college students.

시각자료 1

Topic sentence 2: Students who exercise at moderate or higher intensity have better stress management abilities.

시각자료 2:

Topic sentence 3: Exercise helps reduce stress by increasing the release of endorphins and serotonin in the brain.

시각자료 3:

Conclusion: In conclusion, school physical activities are essential for helping students manage and reduce stress. By improving physical health, promoting positive emotions, and building stronger social connections, these activities make school life more enjoyable and balanced. Schools should continue to encourage students to participate in regular physical education and sports programs to support both their mental and emotional well-being.

Opening

Good morning everyone.

You may already know that there are many overseas Koreans living all around the world. Among them, those who live in China — the Koreans in China, also known as Joseonjok — have had a huge impact on both Korea and China.

They are an ethnic Korean group residing mainly in China’s three northeastern provinces and the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture. About 1.8 to 2 million people belong to this community. They serve as an important bridge connecting Korea and China through culture, business, and human exchange.

Thesis Statement

Today, I would like to talk about this question:

“Koreans in China — what kind of influence do they have on us?”

Body

Topic Sentence 1:

In recent years, many news articles have reported crimes involving some Korean Chinese individuals.

If you look at photos here, You can notice that the crime rate among Chinese-Koreans has been increasing recently. (Visual Aid 1: Article on crimes committed by ethnic Koreans in China)

Because of this, some citizens have started to view them with fear or suspicion, creating a negative image of the community.

Topic Sentence 2:

However, It is wrong to look at them only through this negative accidents.

In fact, there are many successful Korean Chinese entrepreneurs who contribute positively to Korea’s economy.

For example, some CEOs of Korean Chinese background run companies that connect Korean and Chinese markets, helping both sides grow. (Visual Aid 2: Photos of business leaders)

Topic Sentence 3:

Let me introduce two examples.

First, Yanbian International Trade Corporation is a major trade company founded by Korean Chinese. It plays a key role in managing imports and exports between Korea and China.

Second, Yanbian Daily Newspaper is a leading Korean-language media outlet in China. It helps preserve Korean culture and identity while delivering important news to the community.

(Visual Aid 3: Photos)

Because of this, some citizens have started to view them with fear or suspicion, creating a negative image of the community.

Conclusion : Rather than forming prejudices about ethnic Koreans in China based solely on negative articles, we should respect them by also recognizing the positive impact they have on us.

Hello, everyone.

Imagine living in a world where every step you take is monitored — not by choice, but by law. In Korea, this isn’t science fiction. It’s reality for certain people under the electronic monitoring system.

So today, I want to ask a simple but important question: Is Korea’s electronic surveillance system truly practical?

Recently, doubts about the effectiveness of Korea’s electronic monitoring system have been growing.

While the system was first introduced to reduce crime and monitor offenders, the public is beginning to question whether it really works or just creates a false sense of safety.

Many media reports show that despite wearing tracking devices, some offenders still commit new crimes.

Next, let’s look at the advantages and disadvantages of electronic monitoring devices such as ankle bracelets.

On one hand, these devices can help law enforcement keep track of offenders’ locations in real time, which can prevent potential crimes.

On the other hand, the system has serious flaws — technical errors, battery issues, and even cases where the anklet is deliberately cut off.

Moreover, some argue that constant monitoring violates basic human rights and privacy.

Finally, rather than relying only on electronic anklets, we should consider alternative or complementary systems.

For example, rehabilitation programs, psychological counseling, and community monitoring could reduce repeat crimes more effectively than technology alone.

A balance between control and rehabilitation may lead to a safer and fairer society.

In conclusion, the question remains: Is Korea’s electronic surveillance system truly practical?

It has strengths, but it’s far from perfect.

Technology can track someone’s movement — but not their mind or intentions.

To create a truly safe society, we must combine technology with education, rehabilitation, and human understanding.

Thank you.

Today, I want to talk about a question that many people are asking these days: Are electric cars truly eco-friendly?
We often see electric vehicles, or EVs, being promoted as the future of transportation. But are they really as green as they seem? Let’s take a closer look together.

In this speech, I will introduce whether electric cars are genuinely eco-friendly, by exploring their energy efficiency, production emissions, and a comparison with hydrogen cars.

First, electric cars are environmentally friendly in terms of energy efficiency.
Electric vehicles convert about 87 to 91 percent of their battery energy into motion. In contrast, gasoline cars use only around 16 to 25 percent of the energy stored in fuel.
This means electric cars waste much less energy and emit no exhaust gas while driving.
This efficiency difference makes EVs a powerful solution for reducing overall energy consumption.

시각자료출처 : https://mobislive.com/service/mobilityview.html?page=1&id=1500&code=8&category=8&subcategory=3&series=65&main=Y

Second, it is often said that electric cars emit a lot of carbon dioxide during the production process, especially when making batteries. But this belief is not entirely true.
Recent studies show that while battery production does create CO₂, the total emissions over the entire life of an EV — from production to driving — are still much lower than those of gasoline cars.
In fact, as more renewable energy is used in manufacturing, the carbon footprint of EV production continues to decrease every year.

시각자료출처 : https://www.recurrentauto.com/research/just-how-dirty-is-your-ev

Finally, compared to hydrogen cars, electric cars are actually more eco-friendly at the current stage.
Producing hydrogen fuel requires large amounts of electricity, often generated from fossil fuels. This process leads to significant carbon emissions.
On the other hand, electric cars can be charged directly with renewable energy such as solar or wind power, making them the cleaner and more sustainable option.

시각자료출처 : https://news.nate.com/view/20190304n02693

In conclusion, while no car is completely emission-free, electric vehicles are clearly one of the best choices we have today for protecting our planet.
They are energy-efficient, produce less carbon over their lifetime, and are greener than hydrogen cars under current technology.
So next time you see an electric car on the road, remember — it’s not just a vehicle. It’s a step toward a cleaner and smarter future.

Thank you.

Opening:

Good morning, everyone. Have you ever imagined a world where robots are part of your everyday life? Well, that world is no longer in the future — it’s happening right now. From the moment we wake up until we go to sleep, robots quietly assist us in many ways, making our lives easier, safer, and more efficient.

Thesis Statement:

Today, I will talk about how robots impact our daily lives in three main areas: home life, workplaces, and public services.

Body

Topic Sentence 1:

First, robots are transforming our home life by providing convenience and comfort.
시각자료 1:
(Visual: Picture of a robot vacuum cleaning the floor)
For example, robot vacuum cleaners and smart home assistants help us save time and energy. They can clean the house, control the lights, and even remind us of our daily schedule. These robots allow us to focus on more meaningful activities, such as spending time with family or studying.

Topic Sentence 2:

Second, robots play an important role in workplaces, especially in industries and hospitals.
시각자료 2:
(Visual: Image of a robotic arm working in a factory or a robot assisting in surgery)
In factories, industrial robots work quickly and precisely, helping to produce goods efficiently. In hospitals, surgical robots assist doctors in performing complex operations with high accuracy. Thanks to these robots, productivity and safety have both increased.

Topic Sentence 3:

Lastly, robots are improving public services and helping in dangerous situations.
시각자료 3:
(Visual: Picture of a rescue robot or delivery robot on the street)
For instance, rescue robots are used to search for survivors after earthquakes or fires. Delivery robots and drones are also becoming common, helping deliver food and packages quickly without human contact. These robots make our communities safer and more convenient.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, robots are no longer just science fiction — they are real partners in our daily lives. They help us at home, at work, and even in public safety. As technology continues to develop, robots will become even more advanced and helpful. However, we must also remember to use them wisely and responsibly. The future with robots depends on how we choose to live with them — not as replacements for humans, but as partners that make life better for all of us.

Thank you for listening.

Good morning, everyone.
Have you ever listened to a song that just feels right — where every note seems to fit perfectly together? That’s the beauty of harmony. But sometimes, we also hear sounds that clash or make us feel a little tense. That’s dissonance. Both are essential parts of music.
Today, I will talk about what harmony is, what dissonance means, and how the two work together to make music more expressive and meaningful.

Harmony happens when two or more notes are played together and sound pleasant to our ears. It creates a sense of stability and peace. For example, when you play a C major chord on a piano, the notes C, E, and G blend smoothly.
Harmony is the foundation of most songs we listen to — from pop to classical. It gives music structure and makes melodies sound fuller and richer.

Dissonance, on the other hand, is when notes clash or sound tense together. It might feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s actually very important. Dissonance creates emotion, drama, and movement in music. Without it, songs would sound flat and predictable.
Composers often use dissonance to express feelings like sadness, surprise, or suspense — and then resolve it back into harmony to give a sense of relief.

When harmony and dissonance come together, music becomes truly alive. Harmony provides balance, while dissonance brings excitement. Great composers, like Beethoven or modern film scorers, use this contrast to tell stories through sound.
Just like in life, moments of tension make the peaceful parts more meaningful.

In conclusion, harmony and dissonance are not opposites — they complete each other. Harmony gives us comfort, and dissonance gives us depth. Together, they teach us that even in music, beauty often comes from balance and contrast.
Thank you for listening.
