         <description><![CDATA[<div>The negative consequences of gaining this territory for the U.S. was Native Americans who were killed from the diseases that the American settlers were bringing to Oregon. Another cost that occurred from the U.S. gaining this territory is that the Native Americans losing their land from the growing number of Americans settlers, and another one is that cost was for these American settlers taking the journey to the new land often perished on the journey. </div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>People already lived in this territory's lives were changed as a result of the U.S. taking over Oregon, as Native Americans who were already living there lost their territory, with most being forced down to the Mexican areas of California and Utah. Furthermore, many Native Americans, particularly wives and children, died due to medicine that was given to them, when the settlers brought bad and expired medicines.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
