Navigation Hierarchy. It tells you how to get around the page.

Banner: Title as to what this page is about.There are images as a part of the banner often times or even the logo sometimes.

Footer: Copyright information, Privacy Policies , the logo. Sometimes other navigation features you need to get around. It helps increase the usability of the site.

Sidebar: Gives different subsections of things we can look at. Sometime it may have something to click on to explore different aspects

Clickable buttons for Call to action: They want you to get involved and do something.

Logo: It represents the company, they mission, their purpose and brand.

Font and Typography: Talk about the type, size and color, style of the font

Features/Conventions of any Cartoon:
Frame,Panel, Label, Gutter, Exaggeration, Foreground, Midground, Background, Symbolism, Negative Spaces, Positioning, Analogy, Irony, Punchline, Lettering, Speech Bubbles
Composition - How is it framed, foreground, background, more graphic weight on left or right, What is the angle shot, What is the camera distance.
Narrative - They are telling a story. There are characters. There are texts. There is a conflict of the times. How are the characers drawn? What do they look like? What are they wearing? How do they talk?

Objects or Symbols: The concrete nouns used in the cartoons represent larger abstract ideas. Suitcase may represent Serects.
Color - How does it create a mood? How do we interpret the colors?Also shading -the light dark shading if B&W
Connotation or denotation of the words, verbal irony, Punchlines of satire most of the times has irony, interplay between text and image to create humor.

Masthead - The name of the magazine displayed in the typeface in which it is designed. This is the visual branding of the title and is usually done in a unique typeface to be very recognizable.

Selling line - Short, sharp description of the title's main marketing point

Dateline - Month and year of publication, often with the price.

Cover lines - A line of text on the front cover of a magazine, briefly describing and promoting the content.

Left third - In western countries, the left third of the cover is vital for selling the issue in shops where the magazine is not shown full-frontage. The title must be easily recognizable in a display of dozens of competitors. The start of the masthead is important here.

Ears and Teasers: The upper left and the right corners are known as the ‘ears’ of the cover. Headlines in the ears are also called ‘teasers’ as they invite the reader to look inside the newspaper or magazine.

Image Composition: Author’s arrangement of objects in relation to each other, use of color contrast and the amount of negative space, use of light and depth.

Visual Narrative: Image can tell a story. Create symbols for objects ie signifiers.
