         <title>Pertaining to the IEP team about assessments</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>IEP team members should not make negative statements  to the student when an assessment shows the student may not progress to the next grade level.  There should be a time allowance for the student and the parent to agree or disagree and to have additional IEP meetings for all concerned to come to an agreement about the recommendation.  The student is supposed to lead his IEP meetings. If an IEP team member says something like, "Next year will be a lot harder and you will not succeed" damages the spirit of the student.   There have been students who, with great struggle, have gone on to graduate from college.  Care must be given to listen to the parent and the student about their thoughts that they feel hard work hard can overcome each difficult hurdles.</div>]]></description>
