They then moved to Hawaii because his Mom wanted to  work as a nurse on the Pearl Harbor Navy and Airforce Base, she thought it would be a new life for her and Danny. Danny did not want to leave New York and his best friend Finn. While in Hawaii and while his mom was at work Danny met a neighbor boy who was very interested in planes. He became friends with him and visited him everyday to talk about planes. One day, as they were talking the boys heard and saw planes overhead. The boy said those were war fighter planes. They then heard loud booms and explosions. The boys didnt know what was going on. The boys parents came out and said to get in the bomb shelter, but all Danny could think about was his mom, and she was right were the noise was coming from.
