This book is a quality book because of the cultural accuracy and not being stereotyped. The wording throughout the book is very well aged appropriate for kinder - 2nd grade; it also has musical language throughout the story.The book had great illustrations by showing what the people in the story were doing as you read along, as in when they were grocery shopping it shows the grocery store or when they’re cooking in the kitchen as a family etc. As for some ways I would build schema for this book is introduce the Korean culture to my students before reading the book like the type of food they eat , where the country is located to even how they speak a different language. Lastly I think a lot of students could relate to the book by whether it’s going grocery shopping with their parents, helping to cook or set up the dinner table to eating as a family.

This book "Hair Love" is great for young readers, even older ones as well. In the book, it is about a young African American girl by the name of Zuri who loves/cherishes her hair. Sadly her mother is not able to do her hair for an occasion so Zuri decides to do it on her own and with some help from her dad. Despite facing challenges they embark on an imaginative journey to create the perfect hairstyle. One of the main qualities of this book is that I loved how it celebrates natural black hair and the affection and pride associated with it. This story also presents a father-daughter relationship positively but not only that emphasizing the significance of support and encouragement within the family. The vibrant artwork and captivating storytelling in the book "Hair Love," it also promote self-assurance, perseverance and beauty found in embracing one's unique identity. Lastly the book addresses themes of determination and the importance of recognizing and embracing one's individually making it engaging and inspirational read for all ages.
