I would start by giving the students one concept to put in the middle of their map. They would then have to link things they already know about that concept to the main idea. Once the allotted amount of is up, I will have the students either share with the whole class or share in small groups while I observe and take anecdotal notes.

Four Corners Inquiry

I would use this reassessment in two different ways. The first would be asking the students a question and having them go to a designated corner whether they strongly agree, agree, disagree, or strongly disagree. The other way I would use it is by asking the students a multiple choice question and having them go to a corner based on what they believe the answer it. After each question, I will ask a few students to explain their thinking and take anecdotal notes.

Before beginning a lesson or unit, I would create a class KWL chart. I would give the students the topic we are going to learn about and have them put things they know and want to know on different colored sticky notes, along with their name so I know which student knew what. I would then have the students come up and put the sticky notes on the class KWL chart and would read some, if not all of the notes. Then after the lesson I would have students write things they learned and make sure all of the want to learn questions were covered.

I would start by creating a list of questions that cover the entires lesson and/or unit. Then I would give each of the students a yes/no card and have them answer each question. I would periodically ask students to justify their answers. I could also ask students a questions and they can say whether they know the answer do not know the answer.

Then I will look over the entrance tickets to look at how to group students and determine what parts she needs to take time teaching and what parts I only have to touch on.
