When used appropriately, assistive technologies could help students achieve higher success in school and realize their potential with the technology's assistance. Assistive technologies are to be administered to a student needing it. The teacher, school, and administration need substantial proof of its need. The teacher would gather the information. The biggest reason for Assistive technology would be the practice of inclusion for students, so all have disabilities that would limit them without proper assistance.
References
Center on Technology and Disability.

Readding is not always for everyone, and some students would need more help or a different approach to understand the lesson or topics fully.

The idea of assignments is for the students to show their understanding of the content. So by giving multiple options for the assignment give student the option to give proper description of their understanding. The different choices could be a presentation, a paper, a picture with all the details of the lesson woven into the art, anything as long as the student is showing they understand the lesson.
