"Cenerentola Cinderella" is the story of Cinderella most commonly known to Italy. It was written in around 1634 by Jacopo Ferretti. The story was based on an opera by Charles-Guillaume Étienne. It was originally a two-act show, that later turned into a story. It wasn't until 1817 until the first performance of the opera "Cenerentola Cinderella,"

The photo above shows modern day Italy, where the folk story was based on, taken place, and written.

Summary of Italy's Cinderella named Zezolla

The fairy tale begins with a man who we already learn was a widower. He only has one daughter which makes us think it is Cinderella, Because the girl didn't have a mother, he would keep a governess to would teach her basic things that were known as normal for girls to do. This included chainwork and knitting.

They seemed to have a good relationship, but Zezolla (Cinderella) didn't have friends, so she was often very lonely. Zezolla talks to her and compliments her saying how she would have thought the governess WAS her mother because of how nice and caring she was.

One day when her dad remarried to the governess, a dove flew into the room telling her that whatever Zezolla needs she can request it to the Dove of the Fairies and she will get her wish.

Zezolla's life changes as she adjusts to her new life with her new family. She is told that the doves grant her wishes if she still chooses to be a good person. She is put to work and becomes the maid. (Like in all the Cinderella stories.) Her stepsisters taunt her for Cinder looks, so her new name becomes "Cenerento, " the Italian translation of Cinderella.

She got her dress and chose to go to the ball. She ends up making her stepsisters jealous of her beauty, and the king is starstruck by her looks and dances with her.

When the spell would wear off, she would escape to the date tree (the tree now with the flowerpot she used) and repeat the spell. She loses her slipper, and as the original story ends, the prince finds the foot that fits the slipper. Zezolla's foot is the match, and they fall in love. The King marries Zezolla. As for the stepsisters, they complain to their mom and don't have to cut off their toes. The King and Zezolla fall in love and live happier ever after.

Description: The photo above is what Zezolla looked like in the fairytale

The moral of the story includes:

Treat people with kindness

Good things come to those who wait

This is shown as the moral of the story because even when Cinderella is put into labor and talked bad upon, she never complains.

She always does what she told to do by her stepmother at whatever cause. She asks politely to go to the ball and when declined she doesn't argue.

Thats when she goes to wish on the dove and she gets good karma. She goes to the ball and the prince falls in love with her and she gets a happy ending.

The moral is if you are a good person good thing will come to you and vice versa.

Zezolla was a good person and got to be a Queen. The stepsisters were mean the whole time and got absolutely nothing all they did was complain to their mother but in the end, it didn't get them far.

In "Italy's Cenerentola Cinderella" a dove watches over her, after the dove starts to live in the tree which came from the flowerpot. The dove that lives in the tree grants her all her wishes she has wanted.

In Italy Doves are usually connected to faith along with peace, love, and renewal.

We can relate this to the Cinderella story by the fact that Zezolla shows all these characteristics.

Love: Love is shown multiple times throughout the story. Not only is it what emotion is between the Prince and Zezolla but it is also a characteristic Zezolla showed towards her family and others.

I chose "Marjorie" by Taylor Swift as a song to relate to The Cinderella story. With lyrics like "Never be so clever
You forget to be kind," I can relate this to Zezolla and how she was always kind and had good morals.

This also plays into the theme of all Cinderella stories and how the theme and moral always say "Good things happen to good people" and "Kindness will reward you".

Most fairy tales have the role are rewarding good deeds with good outcomes and bad choices with bad outcomes.

Other lyrics include "What died didn't stay dead". Even though her mother passed away her spirit would live on. The dove "became" her mother and did technically stay dead.

Both lyrics stuck out to me and made it so symbolic.
