Immediately when Zionna told me that her favorite genre is fantasy I thought about recommending these books to her. I read them when I was in elementary school and remember how well they did with taking me to a new world when I was reading them.

Dork Diaries (series)

I next chose the Dork Diaries series because she talked about some of her favorite books include the "Dear Dumb Diaries". I feel like every girl her age can have fun and connect to the character in this book especially as she is about to transition to middle school.

Harry Potter (series)

I feel like when you hear fantasy, Harry Potter is one of the first things that come to mind. I have a bit of a bias, because I absolutely love Harry Potter, but I feel that Zionna would enjoy the experience and the world that Harry Potter takes you to when reading.

The Candymakers

The Candymakers is about a group of kids who have been chosen to enter in a national candy making competition and tells the story is a few parts from each of the characters point of view. The kids in the story take a bit of a boss and inventor role which could be inspiring all while a fun story for Zionna. This story encapsulates a whole new world that I also feel Zionna would like to be apart of.

I chose this book because of the way that I hear Zionna talk about the goals she has in life. She is very motivated in her future endeavors and wants to do big things. I think this book would be inspiring in showcasing that she can do whatever she sets her mind to.
