History of the Convertible

Since 2001, Robert Napior has served as a managing member of Deployed Resources in Rome, New York. During his free time, Robert Napior thoroughly enjoys cars and trucks, and owns multiple convertibles.

Convertible vehicles, which have tops that can be opened to the elements or enclosed for comfort and ease in inclement weather, have a history almost as long as cars in general. All early automobiles had open tops, though they were quickly replaced by early convertibles with leaky roofs made of metal or canvas. By the 1920s, closed-top cars became the majority, and convertible vehicles have never gotten much higher than ten percent of the market as a whole since that time.

The earnest return of the convertible happened in the 1980s with the Chrysler LeBaron, and since then, such vehicles have enjoyed a romantic, adventurous image that leads to higher prices. Collectors in particular often pursue vintage convertibles, sacrificing performance and form factor for the sense of style that classic convertibles offer. These vehicles can sometimes prove difficult to maintain due to the high flexibility that results from the loss of a roof, though recent convertibles have seen a marriage of strong style and quality form factor.

The Health Benefits of Scuba Diving

Managing member of Rome, New York-based Deployed Resources, Robert Napior enjoys scuba diving in his free time. While many like Robert Napior enjoy getting certified as scuba divers each year, most likely aren't aware of the numerous physical and mental advantages of this deep-sea pastime.

When diving, it's important to control breathing and maintain a certain level of calm. While this reduces the heart rate and can reduce the chance of a lung-related injury while in the water, it also lowers blood pressure and reduces stress. The body also gets a workout while exploring the ocean, with muscles working harder than they would on land due to the resistance of the water. This increases flexibility, endurance, and can even help improve posture.

Scuba diving also is a great way to soak in sunlight. The body needs vitamin D from the sun for calcium absorption and increased endorphin production in the brain, making a person happier and stronger.
