This picture I took of the movie is representation of compulsory heterosexuality. While in the movie they are both in the beginning of their early teenage years. We can see them having an emerging love, and in some ways discovering their sexuality. While not clear if they have any other sexuality other than heterosexuality but regarding the time period the film takes place they must have experienced it taking place sometime in 1970-1980s. Also in the film it does to some extant push heterosexuality.

I took the last two pictures because they have to do with specific gender roles women were expected to do in our culture. The Kitchen is the stereotypical form of gender roles. Many times used as an insult towards women.

The gender roles were usually decided by a patriarchal system. Cleaning especially clothes is usually seen as easy but not so long ago it took a lot of effort. All these things benefited the patrichary and was used to keep exploiting women.

This image is a picture I took of the infamous scene in Taxi Driver. In the movie Travis takes out his violence killing multiple people in his attempt to “save” this girl from exploitation. I think this is a representation of toxic masculinity and how it destroys a man physically and mentally. Often toxic masculinity often effects women the most. How gender roles can push masculinity to a form of toxicity which spreads to the individual and others.

This image is from a picture I took from the movie Ladybird. In the movie her ex boyfriend is discovered as a gay. In the early 90s this was really taboo. I think this shows the acceptance of LGBTQ in our society and how much we still have to go.years. We can see them having an emerging love, and in some ways discovering their sexuality. While not clear if they have any other sexuality other than heterosexuality but regarding the time period the film takes place they must have experienced it taking place sometime in 1970-1980s. Tragedy of Sexuality a man trying live a life but because of compulsory heterosexuality at that time was conflicted of his identity. It shows his Ex embracing him which to some degree fits gender roles but it does subvert in a way because the romantic aspect is a form of consolation and respect towards someone who need it.
