Hi. My name is Ana and I am Portuguese. I live in the south-western coast of Portugal, in a small city called Vila Nova de Santo André where I teach English as a Foreign Language.
I love books, going to the cinema and to the theatre and I love the sea, so I am quite fortunate to live near the sea. In the photo below you can see me by the seaside near a very beautiful fishing village not very far from my city.
I am looking forward to learning and sharing with all of you in this course. See you all online. Cheers!

I work in a cluster of schools, all of them located in Vila Nova de Santo André. We have 3 schools with pre-primary and primary classes, a middle school (10-to-11 year old pupils in the 5th and 6th grades) and a secondary school, the biggest school in our cluster, with students ranging from 12 to 18 years old or more.

I've been teaching here for 19 years now and I have taught all levels. I started with secondary students and adults, then I moved to junior high and middle school students. Last couple of years I started teaching English to primary pupils (3rd and 4th graders) and this year we applied to a new project: bilingual teaching of English in pre-primary classes (3-to-4 year-olds). I am really excited, though a bit nervous.

Besides teaching English, I am also a teacher librarian. I spend a fair amount of time in the school library in one of the schools and I also go to different classes to read stories, talk about different topics or develop some activities in order to promote some skills, such as information or digital skills, in articulation with the class teacher. It's hard work, but I love every minute of it (well, almost every minute).

Click below to visit the school library blog (in Portuguese).
