Atlantis is a lost island continent referred to be an advanced utopian society. The idea of Lost City of Atlantis has conquered many minds which lead to the origin of many theories and conspiracies. The "Timaeus" and the" Critias", two of Plato's dialogues told about the story of Atlantis for the first time in about 330 B.C.

The Plato's writings are the only evidence for the existence of the City of Atlantis and he himself said that Atlantis existed about 9000 years before his own time. There are no other known reports, other than Plato's writings, found supporting the existence of Atlantis.

In Plato's writings, he said that the founders of Atlantis were half god and half human. He explained the city as a well developed utopian civilization with great naval power. The city was made of concentric islands linked by a canal system that extent to the center. The city was famous for the abundant resource of precious metals.

There are many theories and conspiracies on the location of Atlantis.  Some says it is in the Mediterranean, some says off the coast of Spain and even there are theories arguing it to be in Antarctica.
