I’m questioning why did she not have a group that she fit into? She said that she is a outsider. She claims this because her old friends all went different ways in high school, so she did not have any friends when she started. So why did she not have a group as well? I think what I am reading does make sense over all. It says many times that Melinda/the girl that the book is about has no friend so there for she is an “outsider”. I’m still wondering 100 pages in why she is the outsider in the school?

A simular thing happened to me in Florida when my best friend decided that she like another girl better. Then me so she stoped talking and associating with me.

Melinda changed when she went into high school. Her and her best friend (Rachel) at the time went to a highschool party over the summer. Melinda had a couple of beers and went outside to get some fresh air, when she did a sinoir came up and started to flirt with her. Long story short she was raped and called the cops. Everyone thought it was because she was a uncool and annoying freshman but that was not the case. She did not tell anyone what happened.(136) Her mom noticed the change in her summer from 8th grade to 9th grade. Her grades and just the way that she acted had changed.(114)

My opinion of this book is good. This is definitely a book that could very easily be real, and is real. After reading it, I am more aware of my surroundings. My mom has talked to me about it and it happened to her but putting it in the prefective of someone my age makes think more about it. I think that everyone should read this book so that they know they are not alone and they should tell someone or get help.
