Victor goes from super sad, to happy, then to sad again. I feel that Victor is super overwhelmed with life. He doesn't know how he is supposed to feel about things. In each chapter he goes through a bit of a mind slip and doesn't want to react a certain way, but does. As stated in the darkness tone Victor says the darkness comes over him and it makes him troubled. This is really concerning to me as the reader because he seemed to be doing better but then he let his thoughts consume him.
