What's going on in my artwork is, that is proves how people depend on others and focus so much on other people they don't realize what's their own problem is and or health. My artworks shows how people like I and your, self reading this can pay so much attention to other people's lives that we can't understand what's wrong with ourselves.

When I was creating my piece, I was thinking of the wrongful death of Emmett Till. A young 14 year old boy who was beat to death and was thrown in the water to hide him. When he was found he was bloated and miserably beaten. At his funeral, his mother had his casket to be open because she wanted them to see how they treated him. The idea of Emmett Till came from a connection with my outside life and my school life. The weekend before, I went to the African American Museum of History and I didn't know anything about Emmett Till until I went inside his memorial and watched his video. Then, I found myself talking about him in art due to the fact that this was during Black History Month.
