For this semester's project, I am studying ways to conserve water and energy. I also learned ways to make my house greener, my food more sustainable, and I learned about recycling. In this document, I will tell you all that I did.

First, I will talk about Energy Conservation. it is important to conserve energy because if we don't conserve a light's energy, it could stop working all together. For my pledge for conserving energy at home, I will...
-Turn off lights when it is sunny, when it's bedtime, and when I am not home.
-Unplug chargers or other electronics when I am not using them.
-Limit my use of certain electronics, since they use electricity.
-Use only as much water as I need, since energy is used when water comes out of faucets.
-Do some schoolwork offline instead of using online textbooks.
For my Pledge in my Community, I will...
-Participating in Earth Hour. Earth hour was March 25th at 8:30 - 9:30. You turn off all lights for one whole hour.
-Use Public transportation instead of personal vehicles or ride a bike.
-Carpool instead of using multiple vehicles.
-Educate others about the importance of conserving energy.
-Mail letters instead of using E-mail

Now, I will review Water Conservation. If we waste water, there might not be enough for everyone. There is about 7.347 billion people on Earth, and only 2.5% of all water is fresh (Meaning it isn't salt water). Here are 10 Ways you can conserve water:
-Drink bottled water instead of tap water.
-Add a filter to fish tanks instead of repeatedly filling them up when the water gets dirty.
-Use only as much water as necessary when watering a garden.
-Don't use thermometric energy, since it uses water to work.
-Don't overflow swimming pools when you use them.
-Take showers instead of baths.
-Take quick showers, because you could use as much water as a bath by taking 10-20 minute showers.
-Turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth.
-Wash dishes by hand instead of by dishwasher.
-Use hand sanitizer instead of washing your hands.

Now, I will Review my green room. The room I chose was my room.
First, I will talk about my Energy star appliances. My computer monitor is ACER model K202HQL and uses 11 wattage. It has a LED back light. My fan is a noise blocking fan. It does not show it's wattage requirements. The fan has the Energy Star seal, and it can block out most noise.

My light bulbs are type B LED lights and with 60 and 40 wattage. My Samsung TV has an input of 100-240 volts, and an output of 14 volts. My HP Printer has an input of 100-240 and a output of 30 volts. My class 2 fish tank light has an input of 100-240 volts and an output of 12 volts. My alarm clock uses 5 watts. My phone charger uses 6 watts.

I have no leaks in any water fixture in my room. None of my windows leak.

Ways that I will conserve energy in the future:
-Open windows instead of using a fan.
-Limit my use of electronics (computer/TV)
-Turn my fish tank's light off (Not having it on all day)
-Turn off lights in the day, use them when it gets dark.
-Unplug my charger when I don't need it.
-Turn off my alarm clock and use a battery powered one.
-Write down notes on paper instead of printing what I need.
-Use flashlights.

Ways I can encourage others to conserve:
-Educate on why conserving energy is important and what could happen if we don't
-Host contests seeing who can use the least amount of electricity.
-Talk to people face-to-face or send a letter instead of texting and E-Mail.

Finally, I will review Recycling. There are not any recycling services that come to our house, and we have to take our recyclables to them. When we do recycle, we separate our aluminum cans from our metal.

After we take the recyclables to the Recycling Center, the cans are crushed and cast into ingots. When they are molded into the can shape, the objects (Food, drinks) are added into the can, and they are took to stores.

I will...
-Educate others on the importance of recycling.
-Reuse certain materials, like toilet paper tubes and cans, to make models.
-Form a organization on recycling.
-Hang posters on recycling near busy places.

Now, I will conclude my Presentation. It is important to conserve energy and water, otherwise we won't have anything to use. Sustaining is important if we want our food to stay fresh. Recycling helps us reuse our items. All in all, I learned a lot from this unit.
