1. A flock of sandpipers hunt for food at the seashore.. The birds rush to peck at the sand when the waves go out looking for food. They rush away up the beach when the waves come back up the beach 
2. Piper's mother encourages Piper to join the flock and look for food.
3. Piper doesn't scamper away from the waves in time and she gets drenched by the incoming waves.
4. Piper is frightened an goes back to the nest and won't come out.
5. Soon she notices a group of hermit crabs digging into the sand to find food and to keep safe in the waves.
6. Piper copies them and she sees the beauty of the underwater world.
