When you arrive at Costa Nova village, one of the first images that catches your eye are its colourful houses. All in a row, facing the Aveiro estuary, they make the seafront an immense colourful palette, with their white background, where green, red, yellow and blue stripes stand out. They are called the "Palheiros” of Costa Nova. The first typical houses on this village in the municipality of Ílhavo were built by fishermen to store their fishing equipment and had only one division. Today they have gone from warehouses to beach houses and are now the envy of those who pass by.

https://turismodocentro.pt/artigo/palheiros-da-costa-nova/

The idea is that of a garden that explodes from the concrete, but the truth is that it can also work as a stage, an audience, a meeting place and a space for games. The Planteia is a garden built in the square attached to the building of the Casa da Cultura in Ílhavo, which was built using 138 modules, giving a new meaning to the square and, simultaneously, several challenges for the people who inhabit and attend it. These modules (beds, urban furniture and mediation devices) form a garden, with more than two hundred plants. This new space also includes various functions: it can work as a rest space; as an area for activities that are an educational challenge; as a stage for concerts or other performance activities.

https://www.23milhas.pt/en/
