My thesis indicated that others may say and think that residential schools are a privilege to "Indians" , but in reality, it isn't. And without thinking about the side effects it will have on the family and Indigenous people in general, many Indigenous people suffer through many years, impacting their future generations as well.Also, in my thesis, I wrote, "After many years, myself, as a victim of having parents and extended family members attend residential school, finally found peace after years of suffering." I, put myself in Wagamese's shoes and thought about what I would want to write as my thesis and in the end, I believe that without telling the reader what exactly is the peace and healing he found, many Indigenous and non-Indigenous people would read the essay. To an audience, this picture might just be interpreted as another sad Indigenous Canadian. Many Canadians do not understand the suffrage and hardship Indigenous people went through. In the art piece, it shows two figures of an old Caucasian man, as the pope, swapped with an old Indigenous man, as an Indigenous leader. The piece displays face not of joy, but of blunt stoic faces that could potentially be ones of grief or ones that have endured grief over time.  Time and pain are key to my thesis statement as it is for this piece when showing the crossed roles coming together as though we are different with different roles we can still be unified as pertaining to my thesis.
If it had been viewed outside the context of this essay the audience may have viewed it as a political statement that we are equal no matter who we are, what we represent, or what we believe.
