To cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions to a certain percentage. 1990 was chosen as the  baseline an the cuts were to take place between 2008-2012.

84 countries have signed  the protocol, and many have agreed to make certain cuts to the amount of emissions in which they emit.  Until the protocol is ratified, its rendered meaningless as its targets  are not met.

Any country can withdraw from the agreement through a one year notice. Binding penalties do not exist for non-compliance.

No general agreement exists as to what constitutes a reduction. Countries with large forests (e.g. Russia) argued that credits should be received as such forests absorb greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.

Even if the IPCC Implemented at 100% effectiveness the process of slowing down the rate of climate change, the Kyoto protocol wouldn't represent any progress.

The EU were on track of the Kyoto protocols.

Emissions worldwide, soared from 1990 to 2009 according to the NEAA.

Soo… I guess I will use this opportunity to sum up my points, as tomorrow we each need to present a part:
I am focusing on our allies who can support us in this miserable state of affairs. I have mentioned seven SIDS (Small Island Developing Nations), and used this website for my info http://www.activesustainability.com/climate-change/countries-risk-disappearing-climate-change/.
I then went on to discuss how these SIDS can enlarge our voice in the fight to awaken larger nations and garner their support.
Next up, I have been in contact with Sarah Morris from the Spanish team. We have collaborated to unite our causes. They are wishing to signpost the Marshall Islands as a dire consequence of inaction surrounding climate change, commenting that as her country also has large populations residing on the Mediterranean coast, this is also a highly problematic future domestic issue. Sarah also informed me her country is the 5th largest producer of wind energy, and wants to support us to encourage larger, economically capable states to follow suit in SID support and use of renewable energy. Spain looks at our alliance as one of self-preservation as well, as worsening climate change will intensify the already massive movement of refugees around Europe. 
I finished by assessing the urban populations, most of which are in developing states, that will be impacted and force to relocate due to rising sea levels. The most essential point here is that if we act on climate change now, more than half of this urban relocation can be avoided. This point I think really represents our larger cause. We accept that climate change is in the process. We need to address the causes immediately, not the symptoms. By addressing the cause, we avoid more than half of the symptoms. 

Have a look at the article Brett just posted about Kiribati. I really like the quote in the beginning: 
“Like a drop of water in a bucket, on its own is small, but if there are many, many drops, soon it is overflowing.”
I think it's a real testament of my main point, that alone we are hard to hear, but our allies make us more audible and globally noticed.
