I can use quiet Disney piano songs on YouTube in the morning when kids come in and start their bell work. This soft music will let them know it is quiet thi8nk time and also helps students remember to be quiet during bell work time. I sometimes tell students "if you are louder than the music you are too loud and need to talk softly". I can use music during transition time. When we have reading centers, students know that when they hear the song "try everything" by Shakira they know it is time to switch and walk to the next station. I can also use music when practicing new concepts such as learning about a new letter or vowel and learning how to count by ones and fives.

We can integrate music into every part of the curriculum. During history class, kids could learn what music people listened to in that certain era, or how music influenced certain movement-B like the Black Power Movement. In English Language Art, kids could choose music- even contemporary music- that could be a good soundtrack for a book and poetry. Music helps with concentration, quiet classical music could be played during independent work time. Folk music would be a wonderful way to get to know each other’s backgrounds and develop sensitivity to people from different cultures. Young kids love nursery rhymes, especially the ones that they can dance to or act out a game.
