I learned to take a beat when students were talking amongst themselves or misbehaving. Even though raising my voice sometimes worked, it was much more effective to quiet down and have students reflect a calm attitude instead of trying to force them back into being focused on the task. Younger students imitate the behavior they are shown and if you are calm and centered, they will give that same behavior right back at you

To not be too authoritative with the students, It is important to understand as teacher that the management of a secondary class and a primary class is different. For instance, during my practicum, I first though that being using my bic voice and to directly confront my students was the best way to get their attentions and to make the classroom silent. However, my cooperative teacher has taught me that there is alternative ways. One tips was to do a countdown from five to one. I found that this tips works very well and I plan to use it in the future. Also, in that same regard, just closing the light, take a breath, talk slowly, calmy but in an authoritative and confident ways what you want them to do or to be.
