She ends up not making it across, but she was lucky someone had been nice enough to take her to an underground resistance cell in the U.S. where she was given medical care. In the story, Davy started to grow feelings toward Caden (the guy who took her to the cell) but realized that she would be better off no trusting anyone. Also, some of the members of the resistance didn't trust Davy and thought she was a spy for the agency that hunted down HTS carriers. But you do. You move on. It gets better with time. You forget. Forgive. Whatever... Life goes on and you go on with it" because it is basically giving the reader a life lesson.
