After escaping a training camp due to testing positive of for HTS (Homicidal Tendency Syndrome), Davy attempted to swim across the river border between the U.S.A. and Mexico. She ends up not making it across, but she was lucky someone had been nice enough to take her to an underground resistance cell in the U.S. where she was given medical care. Davy doesn't know if she can trust these guys and is anxious to know the whereabouts of her friends (Sean, Gil, and Sabine) who made it across the river and into Mexico.

I think one theme that occurred throughout the story multiple times was to trust no one. In the story, Davy started to grow feelings toward Caden (the guy who took her to the cell) but realized that she would be better off no trusting anyone. Also, some of the members of the resistance didn't trust Davy and thought she was a spy for the agency that hunted down HTS carriers. Davy also said that no one was trustworthy after she got attacked.

My Favorite Quote

My favorite quote is when Sean said, "Things happen. Things that you think you'll never get over. But you do. You move on. It gets better with time. You forget. Forgive. Whatever... Life goes on and you go on with it" because it is basically giving the reader a life lesson. Something they can relate to. I really think that this quote is very empowering because I can connect to it.
