Which of these is bigger?

1000-g of lead

1000-g of feathers

Make a post on our padlet with your answer AND your explanation (try to use the words mass, volume, and density in your explanation). You must also respond to at least one of your class-mate’s with a comment/question.

Im a bit confused by the question. Although they both weigh the same, it would obviously take a lot more feathers to equal 1000 grams compared to the amount of lead it would take to make 1000 grams. Again this is a confusing question, they both weigh the same, however there is much more feathers than lead.

I am also confused by the word "bigger" in this context. Both objects have the same mass however the feathers probably take up more volume. This is because the density of the lead is far more greater which means there is less of a volume for the 1000 grams than of the feathers.

In terms of bigger, I am going to assume you mean volume. In that case, the feathers would have a much larger volume than the lead even though they have the same mass. Because the density of feathers is far less than the the lead, it would take much more feathers to equate to the mass of the lead.
