Recently in my observations (both this semester and last semester), I have seen some students either struggling with math or find math boring because they cannot connect with math very well. In this case, I want to create some activities where students can find math learning fun and that they can understand the concepts better. Along with some math related concepts, some of the activities will involve connecting with students by getting to know them and help them form academic goals of their own. Some of these activities will include:

Games

Board Games

Online Games

Paper chain Activity

Kahoot (For online quizzes).

Group Activities

some kind of experiments.

Description: In this classroom, there is a pocket wall that is filled with math vocabularies and examples. Each vocabulary is based on different concepts, ranging from integers to coordinate planes. This may consider to be useful in the classroom, because there are a lot of readings in math content area, and it is important for students to understand those keywords to solve the problems. This is an eye-opener for me because it made me realized reading and math are tied together in this concept. I might even want to translate some of the math terms to another language, such as Spanish.

Description: In order to get to know my students, I want to do some kind of activity that brings the students together and share their interests. Here, I decided to create a paper chain activity, where I give students a slip of paper and black markers to write about themselves based on their interests and their goals for their academic years. I might even let the students introduce themselves to the whole class. Some of the introductions may include:
Name:
List of hobbies:
Personal Likes:
Personal Dislikes:
Three things that describe yourself:
Goals for this year:
By the time the students are done, they will form the slip of paper into rings and connect them with the other students' rings to form them into the chains. As soon as the paper chains are finished I will hang them on the walls for the students to see.
