The movement started in the United Kingdom because many people started to notice how the animals were being treated and so they made laws about not hurting the animals. The movement later spread all over the world and many countries started to make laws to ban animal cruelty.

They also work “...through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.” (PETA). Their most recent victory was in October 5th 2020 about an online retailer Carbon38 banning fur because they were putting animals in tiny, filthy cages and then killing them for their fur.

They also state that “Each year, millions of wild animals are captured from their natural habitats or born into captivity, just to become pets. Our houses are not suitable homes for a wild animal.” People should stop buying exotic animals as pets (World Animal Protection).
