I feel like I don’t really have many interests because if I’m not good at something, I don’t really want to do it because I will just become too frustrated. My interests do include:
-Reading
-Working with animals
-Occasionally writing
-Lower level math and sometimes Calculus
-Problem solving (puzzles & games)
-Working with people
-Learning about government
-Activities that are academic in nature
A lot of these are academically related because that is what I excel at.

Again, a lot of my skills come from school, but that’s okay because the careers I’m interested in are more academic than others. I am pretty good at:
-Writing
-Problem solving
-All kinds of math
-Biology
-More basic chemistry
-Organization
-Memorization

Potential Careers

As of right now, I am really debating between two totally different careers. For a very long time, I have wanted to be a lawyer. I feel as if this occupation is a more academic career which is good because that is what I excel at and that is what I like to do, as nerdy as it sounds. By becoming a lawyer, I could satisfy my interests in writing, the government, working with people, and problem solving. Additionally, since I would be an animal rights lawyer, I could work with animals in the sense that I am bettering their lives by fighting for them. I would also be utilizing my skills in writing, organization, and problem solving. Recently, I have been considering a career as a veterinarian. This would fulfill my interests in working with both animals and people, problem solving (having to diagnose the various ailments), and it being academic in nature because it involves a lot of science. This is where my skill sets come in. I am great at biology and more basic chemistry which are both principle aspects of the career. I am also good at memorization which would be beyond helpful in having to memorize symptoms, body parts, systems, etc.

Becoming More Employable

The obvious way to become more employable for certain jobs is to obtain some kind of college degree: "The global economy is becoming increasingly more competitive, and in order to give yourself the best chance for a well-paying job, you must first understand the importance of college education" (Page 5). By going to college, you are able to learn and experience things that you cannot in high school but are absolutely necessary to be successful at the profession you may choose. Another way to become more employable is to set yourself up so that you have plenty of experience when you apply for a job. This could be through internships throughout high school or college, by working yourself up to the better job by taking smaller jobs along the way, etc. This shows that you can be easily trained in your new job and that you will be an asset to the company.
