         <description><![CDATA[<div>Due to the current situation regarding the Russia-Ukrania war, I constantly see on Facebook posts about "these are fake news" published by <em>El País </em>or <em>Antena 3</em>. In this way, media make sure that people receive real and true information. Notwithstanding this information, Spain is considered to be one of the most uninformed countries according to recent studies. There is even a national law in Spain in order to battle fake news.<br><br></div><div>Based on this context, I thought about creating an escape room in which students are FBI agents who work for the office of fake news of <em>The New York Times </em>trying to figure out ways to identify fake news.<br><br></div><div>Davínia<br><br></div>]]></description>

In this way, they will be motivated and they will also plractice the unit contents which they will need to solve some puzzles.<br><br></div><div>&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>STORY:<br><br></div><div>A few weeks ago, some aliens decided to invade the Earth but when they came the first thing they saw was some Tiktok videos. They were so fascinated with the idea of being able to have that level of entertainment whenever they wanted that they kidnapped the most famous tiktokers to take them to their planet. That's why they haven't shared any video these weeks. However, we received some information saying that the tiktokers are still on Earth locked up somewhere.<br><br></div><div>We need detectives, we need you, to carry out the investigation. In order to do this, you will have to work focused on the tasks and in a cooperative way to solve some puzzles.<br><br></div><div>Will you arrive in time to save your favourite tiktokers?<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Environment is one of my biggest concerns. Our planet is in a critical situation and each year the effects of global warming are becoming more dramatic. In order to raise awareness about this issue, I've decided to base my escape room on ecology and the environment. (Also, the next unit that we are about to begin addresses this topic, so I'm killing two birds with one stone... Not a very nature-friendly expression to use, though...).</div><div><br>Anyway, the narrative will revolve around saving the Earth. Students will have to undertake different missions in order to achieve a greener planet and avoid the destruction of the world as we know it now. She has to sort out some problems to travel to Paris, where her friend lives and start helping her.&nbsp;</div><div>Her friend has received a letter that says that the women they are looking for are liars, because they say they have done important things and no woman has the intelligence to do such actions.</div><div>The missing women are: Agatha Christie, Gertrude Bell, Amelia Earhart, Maria Bernaldo de Quirós, Bertha Benz, Carmen de Burgos and Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel.</div><div>All these women lived in the same period. We are in 1926 and things are very different at that time.</div><div>Only one of these women dies, the rest disappeared for different reasons.          <description><![CDATA[<div><br>We will work in groups of 5 students, we will borrow the high school tablets in order to do it and discover who is the group that saves the <em>tiktokers.</em></div><div><br></div><div>In the first activity they will watch a video in which a representative of the government headquarters of the investigative team asks them to identify themselves by writing a password with the name of the person who brought them there in order to find if they are the right people.</div><div><br></div><div>In the second activity, they will watch another video in which an alien tells them that they know about them and that it wouldn’t be easy. After this, they will need to do a puzzle and, once it is done, they will discover the image of a <em>bridge</em> which is one of the words learned in the unit, so this will be the answer to the second password.</div><div><br></div><div>In the third activity they will need to discover the correct number for a padlock in order to continue the investigation.</div><div><br></div><div>The rest of activities will be also related to the vocabulary and grammar that they learned in the unit and this BreakOut will be used as a unit review as well as a tool to practice the four linguistic skills.</div>]]></description>

We will borrow the laptops to do this activity.</div><div>They will also need a piece of paper and a pen to write down the women’s names and the solutions of the missions.</div><div>&nbsp;They will have to face four different missions to solve the mistery.</div><div>1. In the first mission they have to answer a question about Miss marple’s profession.</div><div>2. In the second mission they will have to find out why Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel changed her name and what was her new name. They will do this by going to a QR code and reading the information Moreover, they will have to discover what happened to Agatha Christie. For this, they will have to read an old newspaper with the information and answer a question.</div><div>3. In mission number 3 they have to find out two women: Carmen de Burgos and Gertrude Bell. In the first case, they have to go to Spain and read the information about Carmen de Burgos. Then they will have to answer a question. In the second case, they will have to go to the UK map and read the information about Gertrude Bell’s death. Then they will have to decipher a secret code to discover what happened.</div><div>4. In this last mission they have to find out what happened to other two women: Bertha Benz and Amelia Earhart. To do so they will be given two texts about Bertha Benz and they will have to choose which one is the real one ( a real and a fake one). Then they will have to discover where is Amelia Earhrt by deciphering a secret code with numbers that will give them then name of the country where she is.</div><div>To finish they will have to listen to a Voki presentation in which Miss marple’s friend will thank them for helping them solve this mistery and wll give them the final clue to find out the word they will have to tell her teacher.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The inhabitants of Aspe have decided to send the Queen of England the best panettone in the world, known as "The Golden Panettone" to celebrate her 97th birthday and her Platinum Jubilee. However, the night before the delivery, the delicious dessert was stolen and hidden somewhere in Aspe. To find the panettone, the pupils will have to decipher riddles and solve quizzes that will be found in the most famous places in the town (e.g. the Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Socorro, the historical museum of Aspe, the food market, the Wagner Theatre, the Aljau castle, etc.). In this way, students will be able to read and listen to information about their own town in English, making the escape room more accessible and adapted to the interests of teenagers and adults.&nbsp;<br>In the introduction, I will include a video announcing the baking of the world's most delicious panettone and its subsequent sending to the Queen in commemoration of her 96th birthday and her Platinum Jubilee. To contextualise even more the story, I will show a newspaper with the news of the theft. Depending on the number of rooms, I will be able to choose more or fewer places of interest in Aspe. I would like to start with the basilica and have them complete a puzzle related to the Virgen de las Nieves (the Virgin of the town). After that, we would go to the food market to solve a quiz about typical local products. We could finish in the Wagner Theatre where students will have to discover the film which was shot in Aspe using a decipher or a magnifying glass. Once they have all the clues, they must use them to open the padlock that reveals the place where the thieves have hidden The Golden Panettone.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During the Christmas holidays, my year 5 students had to create a project about a country in the world. I prepared a detailed and guided document to show them how to search for the information, where to look for it, what they could speak about and how to do it. Once they had chosen it, they had to write their script and record a video talking about this country and the chosen aspects. During the second term, we are watching two of these videos in class per week and commenting on the most striking aspects of their presentation, aspects to be improved and pointing out curious facts that they did not know about these countries.<br><br>Additionally, and taking advantage of the fact that they are reading the book "Around the World in 80 Days" as part of the dialogical literary chats with their tutor, I think it could be very motivating for them to create a breakout around this topic.&nbsp;<br><br>The story begins with the visit of the students to the theater to watch the play "Around the World in 80 Days". Halfway through the performance, the actors ask for volunteers to come up on stage. Once on stage, they make them dress up as explorers, give them some backpacks and ask them to go backstage to find a map. There, they find a piece of a map, but not the remaining pieces. When they return back to the stage, the actors and audience have disappeared. The doors of the theater are closed. On the back side of the map piece, theres a message that indicates that they must exit through the emergency door. Crossing it, they arrive to an airport. From this moment onwards, they will have to go through each of the countries that they have been talking about on their videos, and by solving the different clues, they will be able to return back to the theater where it all began.</div>]]></description>

It's been created for 6th grade in order to review contents and grammatical aspects before they leave their Primary stage and they begin their Secondary stage.<br><br></div><div>This is the presentation:<br><br></div><div>Platform Against&nbsp; Languages (PAL) has recruited a group of people against languages, and its number is increasing every day. Their aim is to impose a unique and centralised language for all the humanity, breaking people's origins and all their rights to speak their mother tongue. All languages are under this threat and they have already eliminated 3 in the world. Now, they have focused on the English Language, so it's absolutely endangered at the moment.<br><br></div><div>In different means of communication, people all over the world tries to avoid more linguistic erradication, so they are publishing this message looking for help:<br><br></div><div>&lt;&lt;Welcome inhabitants on the Earth 2025, this is a message which has a unique purpose: saving the English language (and all languages in the world) from PAL's attacks.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Hello! In my case I have decided to use my BreakoutEDU as a way to review all the contents seen throughout the unit. Therefore, the assessment I have created is focused on whether or not students have understood and assimilated the contents.<br><br>To that end, I have designed the self-assessment target that you can see in the image. As it is addressed to young students, it is quite simple. &nbsp;<br><br>Students will be using colours to colour the target and at the end, they will write the total of points that they have achieved.&nbsp;<br><br>I think this is a very visual way of assessment, and apart from that, entertaining for students. </div>]]></description>
