Students will work in pairs. They may choose partners. Assign portions of Carlito’s Journey to Los Angeles to the pairs:  A) Ciudad Juarez to El Paso.  B) El Paso to Tucson. C) Tucson to Los Angeles. D) Los Angeles to Rosario (his mom.)
Include:
1.  A map of that part of the trip. Use mapquest.com. 
2.      How many miles he traveled. (For Los Angeles to his mom, guess or estimate how far they walked in one day.)
3.      Difficulties and dangers Carlitos encountered. Show a picture to represent each difficulty.
4.      People or things that helped Carlitos. Show a picture to represent the people or things that were helpful to Carlitos.
5.      Something Carlitos learned on that part of the trip.
