It felt like we were ending a chapter in the book of our own lives but opening a new one in our friendship. Overall, I felt enlightened and started to look more deeply and somewhat differently at grief and loss. The level of everyone’s experience with it (grief and loss) varies, and we shouldn’t assume anything about anyone. What we should acknowledge is that each person’s journey through it is special and meaningful in its own way. This picture of one, lonely leaf lying so perfectly on a bed of little pebbles symbolizes that for me. We see that it is slowly transforming into a new season/time in its life by the color change, and we also see the rough journey it has been through by the little holes pierced throughout its body. Despite all of that, we still see the beauty in it.
