As I mentioned in class, governments make public policies to describe their responses to various problems that affect a community. Part of this process involves setting and defending priorities about which issues deserve the most attention and resources. For example, governments need to decide whether they should spend more money on education or on environmental protections. If you were a policy maker, which issue would you argue is more important—education or environmental protections? Why?

Clearly, protecting the environment should be the government’s priority over education. I think the REAL question is, which approach to protecting the environment—restricting pollution, regulating population, promoting clean energy, or something else—should be the government’s priority.

I disagree with Vivien because I think that education is more important. Education is one of the most powerful tools for benefiting society as a whole. First, education allows people to learn about different topics, not necessarily academic ones. Education teaches everyone how to be a functional citizen who cares for the environment and their surroundings. Furthermore, education helps to create different mechanisms to protect the environment. Nowadays, discoveries have made it possible to propose different solutions to the environmental crisis we are facing. Governments should focus on improving education because, by doing so, they would be solving more problems, like environmental ones.

I agree with Vivien that investing in the environment is more important than investing in education. First of all, we have reach a point in which planet earth is very deteriorated, the poles are melting, water levels are rising and pollution is a bigger problem everyday. Therefore, we are running out of time to save the environment and we should use our remaining time to do so. Also, if we don't spend money and resources to save our collective home, we would inevitably go extinct forever and then education will not be able to take place since we would all have disappeared. We cannot invest in better education if we don't first invest in saving our planet and by addition ourselves.

I agree with Andrew that education is way more important that environmental protection.

Education is a key factor for a society to progress. If people in a country cannot have access to high quality education, it will not only be harmful for them, but also for their community and society as a whole.

Focusing on spending more money on education would definitively be the most important factor to address in order to improve the conditions of communities.

As an example, we have that the little care given to environmental affairs comes from the lack of education. If people were more educated, they could tell the needs that their direct environment has and, in consequence, they would take more care of it.

I agree with Andrew that education has a higher priority than environmental policies. Firstly, education is key to improving an environmentally friendly culture. It is useless to spend a lot of money in protection campaigns if people are not aware of, for example, the importance of recycling and planting trees. Additionally, in this high-paced world, education matters more than ever to get a chance to improve one's economic situation. If governments spend less in education all they are going to do is generate more poverty.

I do agree with Andrew that education is a much more important issue than environmental protection. Clearly, education represents a long-term solution for the society. Furthermore, population density growth has been increasing considerably, thus improving the education would evoke a bigger impact. This will help our society for new well-educated agents and conscious about the environment will be raised.

I agree with Vivien that environment is more important than education.

Environmental protections is the way to have good education because without an healthy environment, we won't be able to attend classes. I mean that the world is getting worse everyday so are diseases.

Additionally, it is more important because human beings have an development that allows them teach others and help them to prevent this issue. So, in that wat they become conscious and education gets involved with the issue to have a better planet and health.

That's why I think we need to think first about Earth instead of education, also to care about green spaces for kids and improve the conditions that future people students would have.

I agree with Andrew that education is much more important than environmental protection. To begin with, the lack of a good education system in which we are taught the importance of taking care of our own planet is what leads to pollution and other environmental problems. Therefore, the best way to prevent these problems from happening is enhancing a well structured education system. Furthermore, with good education we can advance as a society in fields to protect our environment. Science and technology, for instance, which can lead to create new forms of preventing environmental problems from happening.

Additionally , by investing in education, campaigns can be carried out. With this, we are not only hepling the envioronment. Also we are changing minds so they can see how important is to take care about the planet. With the advanced technology can contribute to make methods to solve problems more easily and faster.

I agree with Andrew that the government should focus on education. Though it is important to protect our planet, we can't do it without being properly informed, and awareness is only achieved by education. A good educational system will prepare people to think of solutions not only directly for environmental problems, but also economical, political, and other factors that might be contributing to the principal issue. For example, environmental laws and regulations are a way of protecting the Earth, but a person without the proper preparation will not be able to contribute with an intellectual solution.

I agree with Andrew that education is more important than the environment. Education provides the knowledge and skills needed to develop long solutions for environment. Without education, people may not understand how their actions affect the planet, and efforts to protect the environment may not be effective.
